Posted - 02/16/2010 : 14:28:16 major goaltending in this years olympics...canada doesnt have the edge in net this year over russia, sweden, or the usa. Going to be very interesting. Russia is very top heavy, this is true, only 2 lines. Canada and sweden ( canada 1st ) have the most team deptness. USA has very good skill, speed and roughness, i like their chances. Canadas 4th line can be # 01 on any other team other than russia. I see Canada vs USA in the final, if not Canada vs Sweden. |

Posted - 02/15/2010 : 14:41:55 As a Rangers fan, i like to see Henrik Lundvist have another strong Olympics, so i hope Sweden does well. Same goes for Jaromir Jagr, i can't wait to see him play again, and i'm hoping he has a good tournament. |

Posted - 02/10/2010 : 21:50:18 Honestly, if Canada is not the team with the Gold, I would like to see Russia. However, only if Ovechkin has a big impact. This way, I can stop riding him so much for not winning.
But, to go a bit further, if Canada doesn't win I don't want to see them in the Gold Medal game. The loss to Russia would be such a bitter and hard pill to swallow. |

Posted - 02/10/2010 : 21:46:01 Sweden. I think they have a better team then Russia myself, also Forsberg is my favourite player ever and Backstrom is the present (tied with Hemsky). |

Posted - 02/10/2010 : 20:51:41 Now, a serious post: I agree with Slozo, if Canada is out, the team that is most deserving should win.
Yep, I'm a bandwagon jumper. How else do Oiler fans survive the playoffs every year? |

Posted - 02/10/2010 : 20:42:07 Well, that would be Latvia for me - that's my background, I am a dual citizen, and it would obviously blow away the Belarus victory over Sweden way back when.
But it ain't happenin', so I will simply watch Latvia's "grudge" match against the Russians, and see them play their hearts out and lose a close game 5-2 or something like that.
So - I am going to give a weird answer then. If Canada loses in the gold medal match or earlier, what team would I want to win? The best one, the most deserving one. That will probably be the Russians, but could be Sweden or the US or Finland on any given day.

Posted - 02/10/2010 : 09:25:08 Norway or Latvia have to be the easiest to cheer for outside of your home country. They are underdogs with almost no hope (well they probably hope to keep the goals against under 10 per game)
If one of them one the Olympic Gold it would be the story of the Olympics and probably the greatest run by any hockey team in the history of the games, to witness that would be something.

Posted - 02/10/2010 : 08:28:50 There couldn't be a better final in my mind than Canada-Russia, so if Canada doesn't win Gold this is the only team I'd accept them losing to.
The arena wall in chicago should be credited with a goal. |

Posted - 02/10/2010 : 08:24:44 Im patriotic, but i'll cheering for the Red's in the event Canada doesnt go the distance. Really hope they dont meet in the final game. But then again if Canada and Russia meet in the final and Canada wins, best ending possible for me. |

Posted - 02/10/2010 : 07:43:57 I also took Finland and think it'd be great to see a country like this win their first gold. I guess i could have chosen Slovakia, but i'm keeping it somewhat realistic in that i think Finland has at least a slight chance whereas Slovakia for gold is highly unlikely. Not saying it can't happen, but any medal for them would prob seem like gold! |

I posted this.

Posted - 02/10/2010 : 00:41:29 Canada for Gold!
If Canada does not take Gold, i'm going to have to say any team except the Russians or US. Since they are our biggest hockey rivals of all international teams, due to past battles.
So... Sweden I guess! heh.

Posted - 02/09/2010 : 23:21:59 I'm just assuming most people's #1 choice is Canada, but let's be honest, in a single-elimination tourney there are alot of country's with a legitimate shot of winning gold other than Canada.
Personally I'd like to see Finland win it. Other than Canada, they are probably the most hockey-mad country in the world. Plus with Selanne and Koivu pretty much gone and Kipper not far behind, this is pretty much their last hoorah as a group together. Also, Finland's never won gold and have been in a pretty large drought for a while now. That all being said, I don't see that happening. Sweden/Russia look the scariest other than Canada. |
