Perhaps this has already been done, but feel free to post your favorite goals.

I've always loved this goal by Steve Yzerman.

And same with this goal by Bobby Smith, maybe not the most unbelievable goal you'll see, but i've always liked it. Both the Yzerman & Smith goals were on an old VHS i used to have, 50 Great Goals.

The Yzerman and Savard goals are definitely contenders for greatest goal. I remember another amazing goal by Everett Sanipass but I can't find it on youtube. Of course Ovechkin and Orr have several goals that could be nominated.

I remember that Winnipeg goal and the reaction Jeremy Roenick gave afterwards. The ref wasn't even listening to the players who were shouting he threw it in. I heard that ref (Morel) got fired afterwards which he should have.

No cup for Dino, what a shame

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kSb_5PHRb1w It's an oldie, but always one of my favorites. Owen Nolan calls his shot and completes his hat trick on Hasek. I think I like it even more because I disliked Hasek so much.

even though its not only goals i found this one on Mike Green, the best of the best player.

This is also a pretty good one hahahhaa WORST CALL EVER!!!!!

The video is quite long but it happens in the first minute, then it's just live replays and commentaries.

I love this topic. Here's one that always comes to my mind when I think of some of the greatest goals. Denis Savard was something else hahaha... Look at the two hooks he got and still kept going.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vB_LC10N3xU

And I also agree with some goals others posted, like the Linus Omark one, the one with Stefan and Hemsky, and the Pavel Bure goal off his skate. The Gilmour wrap around.

There's Also the obvious, Ovie goal on his back, the Mario Lemieux goal against Minnesota in the finals, game 7 ot winner by Steve Yzerman against St Louis and many more.

And I was looking for one where Dale Hawerchuk flips the puck over the net comes in front and bats it out of mid air into the net, but I can't find it. That one was a beauty.

Easily Kariya's goal after Scott Stevens crushed him still gives me shivers everytime i watch this video

Bar Down too beauty goal

One more clip....here's another one of my all-time favorite players, no sound but no explanation is needed anyways.

And i just finished watching the entire 2nd OT period between St.Louis & Toronto from the '93 playoffs, with Dougie Gilmour scoring that sick behind the net goal to win it. What a goal that was, in double OT no less. I can't wait for the playoffs to start, you can't beat playoff overtime.

I still can't believe the Stefan miss/Hemsky goal. The biggest swing of events you will ever see at an NHL hockey game.

I miss this guy...

When a soft shot comes sliding towards a goalie while he's standing in front of the net, he still puts his glove behind his stick. There might only be a 1/1000 chance that that puck pops up, he'll be glad he did. If he doesn't, he looks like an idiot for letting in a softie.
Alex116 Posted - 03/26/2010 : 15:25:22
I dunno, i don't think i can agree at all that he got cocky. 99 times outta 100 that puck slides easily into the net. On far more occasions, a shot from the circle misses the net! I certainly don't think it was the least bit of an attempt at cockiness!

Watch it again! There's not a guy even close to him when he's at the circle. Why in the world would he shoot from there? Would have made NO sense whatsoever!
impropriety Posted - 03/26/2010 : 15:10:50
See, I don't know. A shot from the circles puts the game away, but he skates it right in? The choppy patch of ice he hit was practically in the crease. He got cocky and paid for it.

One hell of a sequence of events, though.

I don't really think it requires much explanation. I still laugh every time I watch it.

That was so freakin' flukey, i guess it is funny? I don't agree with the whole "Stefan should be embarrassed" etc. Well, sure it's embarrassing, but it's not like he tried to get fancy! He was unlucky that it hit a rut and jumped over his stick, nothing he could have done about it. But the fact it happened is one thing, the fact the Oilers came back to tie it is another! AND, if i recall correctly, didn't they go on to win that game in OT or a shootout?
Crazy!

There are endless highlight reel goals from OV, and a few memorable ones from other players. Here are a few that stand out in my mind - perhaps not the most beautiful plays but goals that you want to remember:

- Marek Malik's shootout goal against the Caps a couple of years ago. 1) it was a sweet move, 2) it was round million or something like that, and 3) he's a stay at home dman that should not even have a move like that in his back pocket. It was the first year that the shootout was instituted, and it was the first real "pretty" shootout goal that I recall.

- Theo Fleury's overtime goal in game 6 of a playoff series vs EDM in 1991. The goal itself was ok, but the celebration was the best ever. I was a Flames fan back then living in Edmonton, so it was an extra sweet goal. Calgary lost in game 7, so it was a moot point in the end.

- Gretzky's goal to give him the all time points record. The fact that he got it in Edmonton only made it more memorable I think, I'm sure he wouldn't have wanted it any other way. As I said I was still a Flames fan back then, so Gretzky was not high on my favourite players list, but you had to respect the skill and the height of that achievement.

is the best shootout move I think and he used it in a couple games (against Turco for sure). One other is an older one that always confused me because it was so good, Maxim Afinogenov between the legs 360 to the far post and buries it when in Buffalo...watched that one over and over. My favorite goal of ALL-TIME now though has to be Crosby's OT winner at the olympics as that has become the greatest hockey moment for my generation, I still get the chills when I think back to that moment.

Think you mistyped something here, unless it was a spectacular own goal or one in practice I'm guessing you meant this one against Theodore in Colorado?
