Yeah, I definitely meant the best this year. All time...the jury is still out. It's hard to know after just a couple of years, but I can't argue with Jussi J.

Everyone overlooked the guy who was practically unstoppable this year - Erik Christensen. He has the quick move to the forhand, low blocker side - almost every goalie knew it was coming, but few stopped him.
He wasn't the highest in terms of percentage, but he scored more than anyone else.

defintely datsyuk and jokinen...and i'm not gonna lie...we were absolutely horrible in shootouts this year...but i saw zetterburg pull off the jokinen move this year but...of course jokinen...flawless haha

Datsyuk, Mikko and Jussi have some sweet moves. I dont understand why TO dosent have Steen usually in the shootout. Overseas he was one of the best shootout shooters.

Gotta agree with IHC. Malik's is one I, personally will always remember. Great goal, and no celebration, just a facetious acknowledgement of his own greatness. Honorable mentions should go to Sid and Ovie for the leg lift / fake out manuever(making it look easy) and Chris (TRAITOR) Pronger in last year's playoff (penalty shot; same thing). The purpose of the shootout, as I see it, is more to increase the entertainment value of the NHL, than to decide tie games. Consistency is great, but highlight reels are what create interest for those who are otherwise uninterested. |

Jussi Jokinen from dallas has to be one of the greats, he performed the same move every time, the goalies new it was comming, and they still could not stop him...
Went 10-for-13 in shootout attempts (also was one-for-one in penalty shots)...His 10 shootout goals led the league in 2005-06...

well, if I had to pick "the most consistent" shootout player, I'd go with Kari Lethonin (I can't spell those european names), or Henrick Lundquist. Those guys have been so steady this season.

When you think that Jagr did the same move in a game(not a shoot out) and a move like Afinogenov's from a few years back, again, in a game, what Malik did wasn't so special. I agree with the point that if he was good he would be a more consistant shooter for the Rangers. Do something once, pretty good. Do something consistantly, much more impressive. For that reason, my vote is Jussi Jokinen. Most clutch shoot out player so far. Easily. Hands down.
IHC, why do you get so fired up with people disagree with you?? Firstly, you should be used to it by now. And secondly, that's the point of these forums. To disagree and get different perspectives. |

I don't know why I'm getting such a hard time for saying Malik....That guy must have had a huge pair of balls to try a move like that on his first shootout attempt...I thought the whole thing was one of the greatest regular season moments ever...When I think of a shootout, I automatically think of that. If that doesn't make him one of the all time greats you guys can f*** off....

hey 4727. I don't think I HATE CROSBY was saying that Malik is the greatest shootout specialist ever. I think he was just acknowleding that it was the sweetest shootout moment ever. And I agree, it was priceless! From Malik of all people too!
But the question was who is a shootout great(translation: Best in the shootout) not who had the nicest moment or goal. |

Vyacheslav Kozlov and Briere are really good but what about J.Jokinen, Zubov, M.Koivu, Nummelin, Marian Hossa but i would say Vyacheslav Kozlov is the best but the others are also good
