Canucks get:
Ryan Parent (Def)
Jonas Andersson (Fwd)

Preds get:
Shane O'brien (Def)
Dan Gendur (Fwd)

Not a huge deal by any means but an interesting pickup in Parent. The Preds got him in the deal for Hamhuis' rights to Philly. Never has panned out which is surprising after watching how well he played in the WJC for Canada! Some guys never pan out, others need a change of scenery? Although he's gonna start the season in Manitobe, hopefully with a new organization, he will find his game?

I'm dissapointed but at the same time I completely understand why this had to happen, AV hates O'Brein,

CANUCKS RULE!!!

it's ManitobA

and I think it's an average trade. Only to get under the salary cup, but your not really losing too much. Parent will start with the moose and I'm sure he'll have his time with the Canucks !

It's salary cAp

he has to clear waivers in order to go down to the AHL, which is where he was always going.

The Canucks would rather pay Parent 800K than SOB 1.6M in the minors.

Clearly a deal moving players neither team needed or wanted. Parent was put on waivers today!

Alex, I think you got this one wrong...

Preds get:
- SOB

Canucks get:
- rid of SOB
- cap relief

I was surprised when the Canucks resigned SOB this past summer, given his performance towards the end of last season and his public flogging for his partying ways, I didn't think that he was in the plans. Given his parting shots after yesterday's trade, it was clear that there was a lot of bad blood simmering between SOB and AV, and its now clear that he was never going to suit up for the Canucks again, at least while AV is in charge.

The silver lining here is that he didn't pull a Souray and go all public with his dissatisfaction, which would have made him harder (impossible) to trade, and the Canucks would have paid him 1.6M to play for the Moose. Ryan Parent is one of those "he should be good but has never stuck with the club" sort of players, so it will be interesting to see if he can make the team, at some point. Certainly better than nothing.
