Posted - 10/08/2010 : 18:49:47 Andrej Pavelec of the Thrashers collapsed a few mins into the game tonight! Harsh, looked pretty scary. Apparently he's being monitored and his vital signs returned to normal?
His team seems to be rallying for him as they're up on the caps 3-1.
Fingers crossed this kid's okay (just 23).... |

Posted - 10/11/2010 : 12:15:31 The only fish I smell is coming from the doctors, not the explanation.
Slozo, I have a close friend who goes through fainting spells, and doctors had no clue for a long time what triggered the faints. He has figured out over time that certain fragrances, chemicals, and even high stress situations will cause him to faint.
There is really very little doctors can do for my friend, and the same may be for Pavelec.
Due to the fact that Pavelec suffered a concussion after his fainting, diagnosing what caused the initial faint, or whether it was a fainting spell at all, is very difficult.
The explanation seems more like doctors being forced to say something to the media. I'm betting they are stumped, and just waiting for Pavelec to faint again to see what caused it.
Can't really see how drug use would cause you to conk out suddenly without showing previous symptoms? |

Posted - 10/11/2010 : 11:22:10 Frankly, the fainting spell explanation (he got a concussion from hitting the ice afterward) sounds a bit fishy . . .
. . . I have a feeling they are hiding one of two things: a more serious medical condition, or . . . hate to say it, but, drug use.

Sounds like he is up, talking, and asking about the score of the game. Over night in hospital for observations as it doesn't appear the DR's can find an issue physically.
Hope the kid is ok and it is something that can be treated.
apparently i herd they think he has a concussion and the dizzy symptoms are what caused him to collasp!
