Yes Beans, please keep me posted. I think you may be SOUL too.

I think this subject matter needs a new thread, for which I will start one right now, and under the heading "WJC Ticket Fiasco."

Well that is interesting news as our time for making ticket purchases is tomorrow morning and we were also told we can buy up ot 6 tickets.

If what you say is true, I will be a very unhappy camper.

Thanks for all of your input Beans!

By the way, I just received an e-mail announcement stating that only single seats are now available. WHAT?

I'm guessing that the priority draw put lottery "winners" in groups. For example, my time to book tickets was for 2 pm MDT today, so I suspect some of the lottery winners had earlier times?

And I also suspect that the organizers severely underestimated the demand. For example, most of the lottery winners are probably going to buy the maximum amount of tickets (6 each), and if I'm correct about them staggering the booking times for tickets, the earlier buyers have or are buying to the max.

IF (and that's a big if, because I don't know), this is very poorly done. To inform someone that they won the ticket lottery (and that they could purchase as many as 6 tickets), and then change it to one is ridiculous!

This reminds me of what the organizers did with the Heritage Hockey Classic in Edmonton, where they made a similar error. (Over-promising season-ticket holders on the number of tickets they could purchase, and making a very inaccurate forecast on how many tickets they would sell this way.)

By the way, here's the exact wording as it appeared in the e-mail I just received:

HUGE DEMAND FOR WORLD JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIP TICKET PACKAGES

> The uptake of World Junior Championship ticket packages has been unprecedented and as a result, ticket availability is now limited to singles only and may not be available.

That was the kicker with Edmonton and Calgary. Edmonton gets all 3 of team Canada's preliminary round games. Calgary in turn gets the quarters, semis, and medals.

There are still some very good matchups for the Calgary Prelims. Russia, Sweden, Slovakia, Switzerland, and Latvia.

Furthermore, the tickets are between $400 and $1,400 for the 21 games. This means if you were to watch nothing but the medal games and sell the other 19 games for $50 a seat, it would cost you a total of $25/game for the medal games if you buy the $1000 package.

I would assume that even the garbage games can be sold for $50 a ticket. Not only that, what could the quarter or semi tickets be sold for??? Even at $80 a seat (if Canada is in) they would be a steal.

All I know is I will be there for the medals.

I'm in the Calgary lottery too. Like Beans, I'm not sure if I want to go to all of the preliminary games, but I'm definitely interested in seeing the quarters, semis and finals.

Do you really think anyone will pay a good dollar for the preliminary round tickets? How many of the preliminary round games (in Calgary) feature Canada? My understanding is that Edmonton gets Canada four times in the Preliminary Round, so what's that leave for Calgary?

The lottery is a good idea, but it really makes the "winners" pay for more games than they really want to see. Having to pay for 21 games just to see 3 or 4 games is a bit expensive. (If Canada makes it to the gold, which they've done ten times in a row, the dough softens the blow though.)

I just learned that another friend of mine got into the draw for Edmonton games. That means I am potentially going to all the Edmonton round robin games, then heading to Calgary for the Quarters, Semis, and Medal games.

The kicker is I will sell off every thing I don't use and most likely get to go to all of those games for nothing.

Although Nugent - Hopkins appears to be a great prospect he has not had a prolific yr to date so i can validate their leaving him off, plus he is only 17 and Seguin did not make the team last yr which you can claim was deeper but if this yr's team were to win gold i am sure many of you would back track that statement.

My biggest shocker would be Anderson the goalie for St. Mike's Majors being left off, they are either the top or a top 3 team in the country and i have watched him play alot and he is a solid goalie. I know Olivier Roy is compared to Marc Andre Fleury so i have know problem with that selection.

All n all know one ever expected Eberle to be the go to guy the star he was in both tournaments he played in so until the round robin is over its hard to validate or argue with someone's position on the team.

Who knows how some of these players will turn out, they are picked up for diffrent aspects of play they bring to the game. Just because you make this team doesn`t mean an automatic NHL career, thats for sure.

2 gold medal game winning goals were scored by Newfoundlanders who we thought were going on to NHL careers...Dwayne Norris and John Slaney both accomplished this feat but neither played any amount of NHL hockey.

Lots of top level scoring got left off this team. I was expecting perhaps Nugent-Hopkins to be named as the 13th forward and I am still scratching my head as to how a guy like Joey Hishon didn't make it. Hopefully the good depth the team has will cover up for that, but when you're down by a goal in the last minute, you don't put out the second line.

I thought neugent - Hopkins (sp?) would make it !!
That was a shocker to me
