Above is the link to the Doughety hit on Taylor Hal i don't think anyone is going to argue this is a dirty hit.. it's say to say this is one of those awsome good clean body checks we love having in this game! So why does player like Wayne Simmons have to get hurt defending his teammate for this check? I am tired of everytime a player throws a bone crunching hit the opposing team thinks ohhhh in order to get momentum back or to stand up for my teamate i gotta drop the mits! it is really ruining hockey !

There is never a good reason to fight on the ice in the NHL . . . it hurts your team. Period.

That being said, there are instances where I can understand the player is so incensed at a non-call, or their star player is abused, etc that I get there will be a physical response.

This is not one of those instances.

I agree fully that was as well timed a hit as you will see. No way should Doughty have to defend himself there and then to get an injury on top was not cool!! SB penalties or misconducts . To me those type of hits bring me out of my seat just like a great goal.... great post. thanks Pasty7

I think it would cut down on the fights over time.

I like the idea of throwing out instigator's to every player who comes in to this to fight.. in this case the oil would be loosing at least 2 players for the rest of the game and maybe 1 more, Doughtey should not have to defend this perfect beautiful hockey play and now the Kings loose a pretty decent young forward to injury because of this scrum,

I agree with you completely. I would understand if it was a dirty hit, but it seems like almost any hit will spark a fight anymore. I think Nuxfan is on the right track with penalizing the instigator. Good topic Patsy, I was just thinking about this last week.

Agreed, it was just an extremely solid hit. Hall got up and got into the scrum so it's not like he was hurt. I would prefer to see Hall get up and toss'em on his own.

However, it's the culture of the NHL today. I doesn't matter what team you look at, if they see a hit they don't like, the drop the mitts.

I agree, I don't like it either, but that's the culture started mostly by the coach. That 'don't let them take advantage of our skill players' mentality. I don't know when or where is started. Some could argue back to the Semenko/Gretzky days. But I can tell you it's not going to end any time soon.

looks like a good hard hockey hit to me, no - one got hurt on the hit itself, Hall bounced back up and got into the scrum.

Drew. D came across very rapid and caught Hall, not too many defenseman have the speed and mobility to make contact so quickly this way.
