what about fifteen.
The totals that I have are 219 players wore #15, the most...These stats are as of 2004 and only go back as far as 1930 so far...

Now that would be cool but tough, I think we could get close, but some players wore different numbers for one year or even half the season, for example Sakic wore 88 (before Lindros) his first year, then he switched to 19...
167 players wore #12
123 wore #9
Don't forget that when a player wore some of the great numbers like 9, they tended to play for many years, therfore not as many players had a chance to wear them...
The list may not be 100%, but they are not bad...

Posted - 02/21/2007 : 21:25:57 Now how about the number 9. If I were to guess, I would say more great players have worn the #9 than any other number. Pucknuts? |

Posted - 02/21/2007 : 17:33:31 A few great players also wear 13...
Pavel Datsyuk Slava Kozlov Mats Sundin Bill Guerin Jiri Novotny Ray Whitney Nikolai Zherdev
And 11... Saku Koivu Jordan Staal Justin Williams Dan Cleary (Malkin used to)
I've also noticed a ton of goalies wear #1. Luongo, for example, and Raycroft. Brent Johnson of the Caps, Johan Hedberg of Atlanta, Sean Burke of LA, Mike Dunham of NYI, Curtis Sanford of St. Louis (so did Janaszak and Myshkin from Lake Placid ). A lot of them seem to have #30 or a number in the 30s as well. |
