Posted - 02/12/2011 : 14:32:42 This appears to be a national hockey forum (and a very good one I might add), but where are the Flames fans?
I hardly see anything about the Flames, or anything from a Flames fan. There appears to be no poster with a Flames avatar, but there are lots for all the other Canadian teams. The Leafs and Canucks are very well represented on this site, and so too are the Oilers and Habs. The Senators have "Sensfan" posting regularly, but I've never seen a Flames fan posting?
A few of the original six teams have representations on this forum (Bruins, Hawks), and there are even posters representing the Stars and Avalanche. Some posters have avatars for defunct teams like the Nordiques or Jets. And there are a few posters paying homage to their favourite players: JumboJoeRocks, Mario66, KariyaSelanne, etc.
But there doesn't appear to be an "Iggy12" or "Kipper34" on this forum either.
So where are you Flames fans?

Go Flames!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Another one mixing us up eh Nuxfan?
Anyway, to the point at hand.......nux-suk, yes, while you were incorrect in thanking me for the recognition (seeing as it was Nuxfan who commented on your post), you are correct that i have a bet with one of the moderators. The thread can be found here: http://www.pickuphockey.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=13609&SearchTerms=bet Here's another one to keep you busy. This one is for comments regarding bets: http://www.pickuphockey.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=13610&SearchTerms=bet I'm not sure what your point was in bringing this up, but rest assured, Beans is well aware that he's about to win our bet and i emailed him the other day offerring to pay up. He suggested we wait till the playoffs and perhaps do a double or nothing bet which i'm good with. I'm certainly not one to "welch" on my bets so you need not worry. I'll be sure to keep you posted....
BTW, i haven't read all the new stuff yet so maybe it's out there, but where's the Nux bashing? Either i'm about to go read it, or this is your first "visit" without any? They must be doing too well for your liking i suppose? |

There was once a license plate in Toronto that abbreviated "Go Leafs" it read "Golfs".
Kinda surprising to see a Flames fan be a fan of the Lightning too. I could never cheer for the Hurricanes |

Posted - 02/15/2011 : 01:05:59 Jesus! No sooner do I make the post above and I turn on SportsCentre to learn that Jokinen is out with a knee injury and will be reevaluated tomorrow. Well Mr. Moss, you better keep up the pace. |

Posted - 02/15/2011 : 00:52:02 I think there is only one difference to the team right now and that is FUN. With Dutter gone there is a certain levity to the bench. the reports I've read and heard are that the team is looking forward to playing again and the leaders in the room are allowed to lead.
But now is the test. 2 months ago they were practically written off and barely had anything to play for, but now they are on the cusp of glory (let's not kid ourselves, making the playoffs with be glorious!) so they now have much more on the line and we'll see if they can keep having fun whenthe pressure is on.
One thing that has really changed since Feaster took over is Jokinen. He's been on fire for the first time EVER since joining the team again (hell, even the last time he was on the team) I truly believe that Jokinen would still be floundering and up as trade bait again if Dutter was still at the helm. Having him finally produce has been the difference maker in many of the games that the Fire have won.
Anyway, whatever the difference is, I'm a happy fan again!

Posted - 02/14/2011 : 12:05:43 I'm here, I just don't post that often.....some people anger me.
I'm guessing most Flames fans don't want to Jinx what we got going on right now....or if we even know for sure whats going on right now.....
what I do know is that they have been real fun to watch! |

I will say this about the Flames fans though. I think they lead the league in percentage of fans who come to the games with team jerseys.
well, its good to see them leading the league in something then .
There are a couple of Flames avatars, stick around. Leigh has one, nux_sux has one. |

Posted - 02/14/2011 : 11:15:28 That's one Flames fan! And far be it for me to make a comment about a lack of avatar presence on this forum (maybe I'll get one finally), but I still haven't seen a Flames logo represented by any poster!
I will say this about the Flames fans though. I think they lead the league in percentage of fans who come to the games with team jerseys.
And the team is on a hot streak. 15-20 games ago, the playoffs seemed like a long shot for the Flames, but right now, they're in the thick of a great Western Conference playoff place battle!
Let's hope they don't suffer the "Heritage Hockey Classic jinx." the Oilers were rolling along pretty good in the 2003, but after losing to the Habs in the Heritage Hockey Classic, their season didn't finish so well, with the team missing the playoffs by two points.
