Jarome Iginla scored his 30th goal of the season last night, makeing it an even 10 years of 30 or more an incredible feat and the onyl active player even close to this milestone. A lot of talk at the begining of the year of Iginla slowing down, and of him being traded for one last shot at a cup but the more I look at it Iggy is 33 years old and with his resistance to any real long term injury over the course of his career and incredible consistency i can see him playing and contribuating for another 6 years, i still see iginla as a top 10 player in the NHL right now and maybe even top 8.

Oh and Slozo i think Iggy knows about our bet because if i'm not mistaken he is on pace for 35 right now... i would be heart broken if he finish's the year with 35 and the Leafs make the playoffs so during the playoffs i would have to sport the leafs Avator.........

not another 36 goal season??

As long as he stays healthy he is almost guranteed to be a 600 career goal scorer!

For the record here is how his NHL goals breakdown...

96/97 - 21
97/98 - 13
98/99 - 28
99/00 - 29
00/01 - 31
01/02 - 52
02/03 - 35
03/04 - 41
04/05 - Lock out
05/06 - 35
06/07 - 39
07/08 - 50
08/09 - 35
09/10 - 32
10/11 - 30
(14 games remaining)

Pretty remarkable goal scoring career thus far. He's no Mike Bossy, but then again, who is?

He's got an Art Ross, 2 Rocket Richard's, a Lester B Pearson, and a King Clancy Memorial. No cup yet but a sweet run to the finals in 2004 (which they won in game 6 btw but I won't get into it)

With 4 to 7 years left in his career I think we'll be talking Hall of Fame soon.

i don't think it'll be hard for Ovechkin to get 30 this year, he has 25 right now, iggy with 30 for ten years straight. now he needs a cup and he's good to go.

Iggy, with the goal last night, now has a 0.4411 goals per game, which figures out to 6.17 goals in the remaining 14 games.

It really will come down to a potential empty netter in the last few games, I think . . . lol

30 goals in ten straight years (and this was after two years where he scored 28 and 29 respectively) is an amazing accomplishment. Kudos to Iggy for consistency, especially in the era where we are now . . .

. . . I mean, look at Ovechkin, for instance. I thought he had a great chance at the 40 goals or more consecutive years record, but that is effectively over now. He will be life and death to make 30 goals this year even. And we are talking about one of the most talented snipers in the league in a long time.

No, what Iggy has done here - on a very defensive team with no other great talents to play with for the most part - is exceptional.
