Article on a 7 month suspension handed out by UEFA, on Valencia player David Navarro
They sure don't mess around. 7 months? And that is not even the longest ever handed out. |

Posted - 03/19/2007 : 06:36:27 There are getting to be a few too many "snipers in the crowd" but the thing that Football is great at is discipline. Doesn't matter who the player is, the discipline is consistant and the punishment fits the crime. Something the NHL could use a lot of help with. |

Soccer, and most of us North Americans refer to it is a pansy sport. Football (real football, not NFL or CFL) is far from a pansy sport. It is the global sport. It's one of the few sports in the world that can be played anywhere, anytime. I love Football!!
In my opinion, the reason that FIFA and UEFA handle things better is because there is still honor in that game. Something the NHL is sorely lacking.
Well said Beans! You can go anywhere in the world and watch a game. Must be a reason the entire world plays it. However I must say the diving that goes on to draw penalties is hard to take at times. I love how hardlined they are with their rulings and calls though. For instance Zidane not even being alllowed to see the final minutes of the World Cup afterbeing thrown off the field for headbutting the Itallian. It was his last game as he was retiring and they treated him no differently. Fantastic! |

How can you say that?? Soccer is not as good as hockey but it is not a pansy sport. Ok, they are cry babies **Cristiano Ronaldo** **COUGH** but they are not wimps. Look at Navarro. For a goaltender he runs fast, but also really funny. He runs like a chicken okay. Id like to see a goalie in our league do that.(Not run like a chicken though).

Did you see what Navarro did. LOL, a player was being restrained and this guy runs of the bench and punches him, breaking his nose. Imagine if an NHL player came of the bench and punched someone in the middle of a brawl. How do you think the NHL would react? I say it would be a 15 game suspension. How about you??

15 sounds about right. 7 months sends a message though doesn't it. |
