I am glad that the Winter Classic is not being included in the next year's season. All that this accomplishes is for 50,000 people, they sit in the cold and watch a long, drawn out and boring game. The ice conditions are not ideal for play at the NHL level either.
Outdoor games are generally low scoring because of the outdoor ice conditions, too.
Not fair to those participating teams!
Let the next outdoor classic be in Florida or California. If they can ever make ice out there, they could learn what it is like to play outdoors like all Canadian kids. This is why hockey is Canada's game, because their heart is and always has been/will be in it, which includes playing outdoors! |

Sorry Guest 4600, but there will be a Winter Classic next yr between NYR & PHIL. It was the Heritage Classic that has been omitted next yr.

I was under the impression that it was, in fact, the Heritage Classic that was not planned for next year while the Winter Classic is definitely on.
I remember very clearly back in the early 90s that the NHL had an outdoor game in Las Vegas as well. So they can definitely make an outdoor game happen in the Sunshine State....I'm just not sure how well attended it would be. |
