Posted - 06/15/2011 : 13:04:01 I just read that Ottawa signed Paul Maclean as their new head coach to replace Clouston. With the new Winnipeg team currently coach hunting, did they miss the boat by not signing Maclean, who as some of older posters may remember, was a Jets stalwart in the 80's, playing wing for Winnipeg's favorite Jet, Dale Hawerchuk?
He has spent the last few years as an assistant to Mike Babcock, not sure if the lineage gets much better.

Maybe it's time Ted Nolan got another shot.
What's Nolan doing these days? Is he still coaching, and if so, has he been trying/hoping for another shot at the NHL? I just don't hear him mentioned often? |

Winnipeg, much like Regina has a fairly prevalent First Nations population, and with his ethnicity, his hiring could do wonders for establishing relations outside the arena, which would have a much farther reaching impact.
Of course I would suggest Nolan for Regina's Pats, except I'm of the same heritage, and he would just cramp my style if he were here. |

Perhaps. Certainly a great lineage but does not necessarily continue after Detroit. See Todd McLellan's rather pedestrian efforts thus far post Detroit. |
