Good pickup for WSH, they need this kind of gritty forward... apparently VAN was in the hunt as well, I'm glad it didn't happen. I'd have a hard time cheering for him.

LOL....i don't think it'd have taken long for you to like him here nuxfan. He's one of those guys who you like on your team, but not many like him elsewhere!

Maybe Washington thought they were getting Bolland. Bolland was a difference maker for Chicago and there was a noticable difference in that teams performance with him compared to without him. I don't see that same impact with Brower.

But, Washington needs a few guys like this who can muck it up, score dirty, and help win games they shouldn't win. Takes some off the pretty off Ovechkin, but what has that gotten the Caps anyway.

This is another surprising overpay from the draft.

Brouwer for a first rounder, if I heard correctly? Seems like quite the overpayment, but yeah - Washington needed a guy like this for sure.

In the end, a great pick-up.
