Joe Thornton has always been a leader of the Sharks. He had an excellent playoffs this year and should followup with a sting season!! |

Frankly, I still think SJ was a better team than VAN in much of their series but simply could not finish. They will certainly be a favourite for the West and a deep run to the Cup. For no other reason than last year's playoffs was the first time that Joe Thornton was actually a positive factor for his team.
Thornton has been a positive factor for the team since he was traded to san jose |

Posted - 07/14/2011 : 06:21:36 I hadn't looked at this team on paper yet . . . and damn, if it doesn't look impressive. Did not know that you guys had acquired Handzus, or I guess forgot about it. But to have him as the third line centre with Mitchell . . . this is just a super deep team all around.
I think at this point, they should be a lock to win the conference, especially with Vancouver likely to suffer from "riot hangover".
How far they go in the playoffs, however, is impossible to predict at this point really. We have to see how Havlat meshes with his teammates, how they manage to fit Burns into their D configuration, stay healthy, and of course, have at least one moderately hot goaltender from their tandem.
But this could certainly be the year they make the finals. Just like last year. And the year before.
