Posted - 08/18/2011 : 11:45:24 The NHL is currently running the 2011 NHL Research, Development and Orientation Camp, specifically to test out potential new rules and equipment changes. I'm not sure how long these have been done, but it sounds like the best way to try out new things and assess them well in order to bring in change in a way that won't piss everyone off too much.
Anyway, specifically I wanted to post about the verification line they are considering putting into the nets that would help determine if the puck has crossed the goal line. I hope to be able to see it in action somehow, but it sounds like a brilliant idea.
Any thoughts on this or other potential rule changes that should be introduced?
