Hart - Phil Kessel
Yes, it makes me sick to say but take him off of TO and I think you have a bottom 5 team in the NHL. When Kessel plays well the Leafs win and when he doesn't the Leafs lose.
Norris - Zdeno Chara
Not even a contest. One of the top teams in the NHL, the fewest goals against of any team, and Chara is the leader of that defensive group. 25 pts, +27, more than 25 minutes a game. Plays top PP, PK, and even strength. It's his to lose.
Selke - Jonathon Toews
I simply believe he is the best 2 way players in hockey. I wouldn't complain much if Datsyuk won either.
Calder - Ryan Nugent-Hopkins
Call me bias, but this kid is sick, sick, sickly skilled. PPG rookies are not common and that is pretty close to where he was at the time he was injured. Playing less than 20 minutes a game and producing like that?? Rare talent.
Vezina - Henrik Lundqvist
No one had NYR anywhere near the top of the league. Most people considered them a fringe playoff team. One of the biggest reasons they are where they are is their stingy defense and a huge part of that is King Henrik. Great stats and one of the most consistent goalies in the past 5 years. Honourable mention to Jimmy Howard.
Jack Adams - Ken Hitchcock
When Payne was fired on Nov 6th the St Louis Blues were 6-7-0 with 12 pts. They were the 2nd worst team in the West and tied for 4th worst in the NHL. Today, that same team is 25-12-5 with 55pts. 2nd best in the West and tied for 3rd best in the entire league. Absoutely nothing has changed with that team with the exception of the coach. How do you not give at least the 1/2 half award to Hitch?? 19-5-5 taking over without a training camp or preseason to get things settled. That is sick.
