The hockey World Champs begin today in Moscow, and will go until May13th. Canada's opening game was against Germany, but other than that I don't know who's playing whom.

Here's the website:
http://ihwc2007.fhr.ru/

It's in Russian but if you click the British flag button that says ENG, it'll translate the page to English.

My predicted podium (based on random guesses as I have only seen the Canadian and US roster):

Gold: Russia
Silver: Canada
Bronze: Finland

Hey

I actually wish Russia was in the gold medal game, it would've been more exciting to watch. 'Course I couldn't watch it, but for those who could it would've been better. Still though, for Canada, great job on the gold, eh!
(P.S. Former Guest1603--I like the "aboot". Good one )

Final: 4-2

CONGRATS CANADA!! Gold in World Juniors and World Champs. Same score too.

Good try by Finland, congrats on another silver :)

I had the top 3 right in my predicted podium, but the order was wrong. Not too shabby
FROM_RUSSIA Posted - 05/13/2007 : 10:24:57
Interestingly that, the crowd on tribunes scans Russia Russia. Strange sounds, when Russia does not play. By the way 3-0 already....

Accept condolences. It is a pity. It is good game. It is always pleasant to look at a national team of Canada

Yeah, Finland has a history of falling flat in the final game, and this time will probably be no different. Canada has more NHLers and better depth overall. Anything can happen, but it's likely Canada will bring home another WC gold.
Guest1603 Posted - 05/12/2007 : 14:38:38
I think canada will win the gold, but since both russia and sweden lost and I thougt both of them would win their games Finland has something going for them.

I think Nash and Cammalleri played really well against sweden. But honestly I can´t appreciate it when just been beaten by them... man I´m feeling down right now

So I´m hoping the Ruutu´s get really cracy and Finland wins WC 2007.

And the Bronzemedal game between russia and sweden......who cares

I'll always say Canada, as I am admittedly biased, but if you are looking for reasons, number one has to be the Canadians scoring. The only time Canada has ever gotten itself into trouble internationally is when they've had difficulty scoring. Defence and goaltending are rarely the problem. And right now, Nash, Camalleri, Doan, Toews, and a few others seem to be finding the net and driving the net hard.

I'm not sure Finland has the back line to stop them.

I never count Finland out, though. They are capable of winning big games at anytime, and play what I feel is the most North American style of European hockey, so they match up well. That is, they have the grit needed to beat a team like Canada.

I hope they don't though.

Mikhailova Posted - 05/12/2007 : 12:27:16
Canada will beat Finland--more NHLers, better lines. Finland's got the better goalie though. Nonetheless the Canadians will win yet another goal unless Mikko Koivu scores another lucky game-winning goal.

fly4apuckguy Posted - 05/12/2007 : 08:58:09
The Swedish defence can't handle the Canadian forwards. Sweden needs to get the puck deep and forecheck like crazy. Not going to happen, though.

Go Canada!

Guest1603 Posted - 05/12/2007 : 08:52:10
Man where playing bleak no speed at all, dammit gotta start passing the puck into canadian zone instead of giving it away.
FROM_RUSSIA Posted - 05/12/2007 : 08:39:40
Well we will wish good luck to Canada. Besides next year WC will pass in Canada. In Quebec. And I would not want that Scandinavians have won

Sweden-Canada, after the first period 0-3.
Mikhailova Posted - 05/12/2007 : 08:06:16
Wow...this changes things. Russia won't be winning gold then. Now I'm guessing Canada will beat Sweden, then win gold over Finland, and Russia will win bronze over Sweden.
PuckNuts Posted - 05/12/2007 : 06:57:25
Koivu lifted the Russian goalie stick to access the puck, he then shot it into the net to win the game in overtime...

Is this not goaltender interference ? What do you think ?

Lead, follow, or get out of the way...
Guest1603 Posted - 05/11/2007 : 13:54:00
1.Russia
2.Sweden
3.Canada
4.Finland

Sweden-Canada on Saturday 4-2 to Sweden is my prediction.
Go Sweden Go!

What happened to this post? I go to the 3rd page and its all in Russian. Hey, but thats good for us, views on hockey from the other side of the ocean. Of course I'm in Europe currently too.

Anyway, I'm saying Sweden beats Canada. I don't think the Canadians can beat the Swedes, but I'm still cheering for the canucks.

Russia has to be the favourite in the final four, with the talent they have assembled.

But that classless move by Malkin really makes me sick. I don't like Czech hockey, but you don't skate by the bench and taunt the other team when you score a nothing goal like he did. He did that last year against the USA too.

It shows a major lack of character. Mark my words, somebody will remember that stuff in the NHL and clean his clock one day.
