He wasn't bleeding. It lightly glanced off his visor. Two minute penalty.
That aside, I'm not saying it wasn't a penalty, I'm saying it's disgusting how he acted like he had been hit in the face with a bat, not lightly tapped on the helmet with a glancing blow.

Posted - 05/12/2007 : 10:47:15 There´s no question about it the better team won. Sweden had no speed at all, the guy with the puck in the swedish team had no one to pass to cause all the other guys where just standing there. |

What a wimp.
I'm not saying it wasn't a penalty, but have a little backbone, god.

The Nash-Doan-Lombardi line can't be stopped, but guys...take it to the hole! Too much cycling behind the net!

It's not looking good for Sweden right now. 3-0 Canada at the end of the first. If Canada can stay out of the penalty box, we should be good.
The Swedish defence can't handle the Canadian NHL forwards.

Posted - 05/11/2007 : 16:02:51 I'm not counting Canada out, but I am realistic. The Russians have some awesome players playing this year, and at home.
I don't want to get into slamming European hockey, but from what I see on TV, especially the refereeing and the diving, please feel free to keep it in Europe.
I have more respect for Swedish and Finn hockey than I do for Czech hockey though. They have no code of ethics at all. The Russians are close behind. Skating by the other team's bench and yelling at them shows no class.

Sorry 1603, I think Canada's going to win. But I do agree with you that Russia will win the tourney. And Välkomnande till Pickup Hockey |

Now that´s the spirit
Offtopic: I think russia will win the tournament with the support of the crowd. Especially as sweden only has one NHL player on its rooster and many young inexperienced players (something like 12 wc debutants). |

Yes, it's exact. Our command is as much as possible balanced on all lines. We have good stars in the Russian championship, like Morozov, Zinoviev, Zaripov, Kharitonov and many others. Probably they will soon play NHL. Our trainer the best. It could collect an excellent command. Choosing from 50 players who plays the Russian championship, he has chosen one of the best. |

Posted - 05/11/2007 : 12:06:02 Excuse my english. I didn´t mean NHL players are bad. Most of the hockey elite in the world play in the NHL. But aside from the elite there is no big difference between an average NHL player and players in the better european leages.
Take the Jönsson brothers for an example, they would kick ass if playing in any NHL team.
And most importantly Hockey is and always will be a team sport. Induvidual skill doesn´t matter if you don´t play as a team, the latest russian national teams is a good example of this.

And finally I wanted to provoke you a bit as I am swedish. Go Sweden! |

Posted - 05/11/2007 : 11:15:36 I a little agree. All the same games NHL and the European hockey differ. In the size of a playground, territory of gate, game rules. And players NHL should reconstruct all game. It is not always good. But it is good when there come some good players who help a team. |

Overrated NHL players? Now I have officially heard it all.
This is why a small part of me wants the NHL to play Euro elite teams. Just to end statements like this one. Overall, I think it would be a waste of time though.

Posted - 05/10/2007 : 20:44:58 I'm cheering for Canada, but I don't necessarily think it will be easy. Sweden has won some big games against us in the past - they seem to rise to the ocassion. I think the Doan/Nash/Lombardi line is really firing on all cylinders right now though.
