Salming was one of the first europeans to play in the NHL and he dominated... well accordng to my dad

I went with Kurri, i know his numbers were inflated by you know who most of his career. But i got to watch him play a lot, and he never ceased to amaze.

Well, until he retired, he hasn't been that amazing since then.

I agree 2/3rds with ya Mik. :)

It's a 2-way tie between Stastny and Kharlamov.

Wow, almost everyone said Stastny is the second best, but then they all voted someone else is second best

I voted Pavel Bure. His offence skill was just amazing.

I didn't know any thing about Valery Kharlamov so I searched him up here's some information about him if you don't know much about him.

Tough call. I voted for Kurri, but I could just as easily make a case for Stastny. Actually, as far as pure ability, Bure could be the guy, too. You can't argue with Kurri's goal total, though.

This is a hard one. Lidstrom and Salming are some amazing defense men...amazing. Sundin and Fedorov are two of my favorite European players for their overall capability and talent. Jagr and Stastny are superstar players. Bure is a dominating goal scorer. I didn't know who to vote for. I picked Forseberg for my great memories of him in his prime. He was just sooo good and now that he has some linemates I have high expectations for him next season. I kind of wanted to say Fedorov because he is one of the best overall players ever to me but, I just remembered Forseberg on Colorado. This is a really close one though. Really. It was based more on favouritism(though Fedorov is my favourite...). Europeans players have been God's gift since they entered the NHL.

I guess I probably should have put someone instead of Ovechkin, I just picked the first few that popped into my mind
PuckNuts Posted - 05/10/2007 : 17:43:29
I am not sure why Ovechkin is on the list when you are talking best European players "ever"...

Some player that I would have put on the list ahead of him:
Jagr
Selanne
Sundin
Forsberg
Lidstrom
Fedorov

I voted for Salming...

Lead, follow, or get out of the way...

Stastny was the second best for points through the 80s To Wayne Gretzky. If that doesn't come close than thats jsut weird

Well as far as goalies go, Tretiak takes the cake. For forwards/defensemen...it was a tough choice between Kharlamov and Kurri. They were both great goal-scorers and all-around solid players, but I voted for Kharlamov. He was the only player who the Canadian national team was afraid of, the one guy they couldn't let get near the puck. Canada is consistently the best in the world in international hockey tourneys, and it takes a lot to challenge them the way Kharlamov did. Salming was my third choice.
