IHC, watch a hockey game buddy. He interviews coaches during every single INTERMISSION!!!!!!
When life gives you lemons throw them at the Ottawa Senators and their fans and hope it gets them in the eyes ;)
Leafsfan is right he interviews coaches or players during an intermission....or sometimes during a long stoppage of play.

Ok I'm not going to get into a big argument here. Me and every else who watch games know that this whole interviewing during a game garbage is going on....and a little support here from my peeps on this would be most helpful.

I enjoy watching TSN's hockey brodcast for one reason and one reason only. The hockey Panel. Every analyst on their panel is very knowledgble about NHL hockey.
Sometimes even if there is a game on TSN that does not interest me, I will still watch at the intermissions just to see what they have to say.
If TSN could get a better play by play comentator than Gord Miller or Chris Cuthbert they would no question be the best hockey broadcasting station.
I do though enjoy Pierre Maguires commentary from between the benches on TSN or NBC.
Forecheck+Backcheck= Paycheck!!!
I think I disagree with everything you said.... 1) the TSN panel is a joke. Bob Mackenzie and Darren Dregger are 2 of the biggest disgraces in broadcasting. they are the type of fools who would promote bigger nets. Dregger has zero intelligence when it comes to goaltending, and like the p**** he is, he bitches about every single hit . Mackenzie is no better. he too whines about urban mythes like the size of goalies pads. People just have to face the facts, goalies are substantially better than they used to be. Stop making up excuses for lack of scoring and just accept that goalies are probably the most talented players in hockey. 2)ya, Gord Miller should be replaced. But he should be replaced with Chris Cuthbert. He was the best guy on CBC and now he's the #2 guy on TSN? What a joke. 3)it REALLY pisses me off having Maguire between the benches. I think it is really inappropriate to have him interviewing coaches DURING the game!!!!!!! It makes hockey seem like a joke. (all these cheep thrills for rating....makes a hockey broadcast seem like a prostitute)

Ok now I have to disagree with evrything that you say. 1). The TSN panel is probably the most knowledgeable group about hockey on TV. They know their stuff and are giving their opinions on situations with at least some sense of knowledge. 2). Chris Cuthbert should replace Gord Miller. No questions about it he needs the #1 job. 3). Maguire knows his stuff and having him there is fantastic. And IHC, I've never seen him interview coaches during hte game. He is not that moronic to do something like that.
Althhough I like TSN, CBC is my favourite. They are playoff hockey and I always get excited when CBC shows a game during the week. Its a real treat.

Posted - 05/26/2007 : 23:57:41 'I Hate Crosby' is 100 % correct, it is inappropriate to talk to the coaches during the game. That goes for the players on the bench too. Absolute crap. They are too focused to say anything other than fluff anyway. I cringe every time I see this. Maguire knows his stuff though, and at least he used to be an NHL coach. But if it were some sissy broadcaster I can see the coaches "politely" declining. This is the NHL not the XFL. |

That seems so strange to me - imagining Cuthbert with TSN. There are a few broadcaster shuffles that I have a hard time imagining ! |

Posted - 05/25/2007 : 17:45:03 CBC is by far the best, being a Canadian station and knowing that every game they'll air will get well over a million viewers. Also, they have no other programming to air, other than the news, that will get significant viewership, so we know that if there's hockey, it'll be there.

Mik, you must have been so rattled about that preakness, eh? I couldn't believe that...Cause they went to 75 minutes of pre-race stuff too, right? When overtime was still going down! I can understand that NBC had to go to the preakness, but 75 minutes before the race is a joke....
You bet I was rattled. I sat at the computer refreshing the Yahoo scoreboard every few minutes to see who won. When I saw the little red arrow by Ottawa, you didn't want to be in the same room as me.
Anyway, I completely agree. NBC is a joke when it comes to hockey. The race lasts two minutes, yet they cut away from 20 minutes of OT which they had plenty of time to show, for 75 minutes of pre-race interviews with Hollywood personalities. Pathetic |

Posted - 05/25/2007 : 12:59:53 Here's my opinion of all of 'em:
NBC - Sucks...no commitment to the sport, and the announcers know very little about the game Versus - Sucks...announcers make more references to basketball then basketball announcers do CBC - Good...could use some streamlining, especially when it comes to the announcing...Cherry and McLean are the best thing going on TV with regards to hockey TSN - Solid - Don't get to see much of it, but from what I do, they do a good job.

Posted - 05/25/2007 : 12:57:28 That IS lame. They interrupt a playoff hockey game for a regular season baseball game that's not crucial to the standings in any way?? It's not a big event, but they chop off time from a big event in hockey to show it. Pity. |

Well the only one I can see is NBC, and they only show games on the weekends, so they're not the best. Versus is pretty good, they show all the games, but since they're not an option I said CBC. I bet they show every game and don't stop showing a playoff game for the Preakness like NBC did (I was so mad when they did that...I wanted to see if the Sabers won!)
You think that was bad? A couple of weeks ago one of the Ducks games on FSN was toggled back and forth with an Angels game! That was lame. I know baseball is the national pastime and all, but come on, it's the playoffs! |

Doc Emerick uses way too many basketball phrases for me (I counted 7 in 1 game a few weeks back) For my money, CBC is the best national broadcast. Some of the teams have great local productions, many are terrible though. |
