That's right, Sidney Crosby!

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=210855&hubname=

I still think Luongo was the better choice, but Sid would've been second on my list so I guess it all evens out. Although, considering he won by such a large margin, you gotta wonder if it's just cuz everyone wants him to the youngest to do yet another thing. However, the Pearson award I definitely agree with. He's been the most outstanding player in my mind. What do you all think?

Stastny did not get to play with SAkic, Sakic was on the first line while Stastny was on the second, Stastny was the only one of them to get the most points of everyone on their line

what do Calgary and a tea bag have in common- they're both only good for one cup

But Power Play they play together.

OK C-Man, we'll just agree to disagree. Btw I didn't say they were a .500 team, that was manninm. But congrats to Vigneault anyways.

Sid must've been referring to Marty Brodeur, who was a finalist for the Hart.
Canucks Man Posted - 06/15/2007 : 08:34:15
Mik, might I ask you who finished with more points in the west, The Stars or Canucks? Thats right the Stars did, you technicly the stars were a better team that the canucks fought hard to beat. Alain Vigneault completly changed the style of play on the team, on a team that had 8 guys who were regulars last year on the Canucks, so its unfair to call them a .500 team because alot of the guys were first year canucks.

Oh and by the way did you guys hear what Crosby said when he won he pearson, "I would like to Congratulate Vinny and MARTY on the great seasons." Im sorry but was there a Marty up for the Award?

CANUCKS RULE!!!

Because the other teams he were even worse than the Canucks. Vancouver's skaters are an improvement from Florida's, but all Vigneault did was have a team handed to him with the potential to be improved, squeaked a division win by one point and then nearly lost them in the first round of the playoffs. Granted, he didn't lose them but if he really improved the team enough to win the Jack Adams they would've blown right by the Stars and had a solid lead in the Northwest. He may have done SOME things, but not enough to win the trophy.

Based on your logic then Therien couldn't have won it either because it was all about the Kids. Ruff had such a talented offensive players from the 1st to the 4th line as well as solid d-men and goalie, so he can't win it either.

So... the coach of the year would be??? Ken Hitchcock? Trotz? Andy Murray?

Someone like Trotz or Wilson SHOULD have been nominated because they took halfway-decent expansion teams and turned them into solid playoff contenders. Of the three nominated, Ruff should've won because he did more to make his team better than the others have. He's been working with the Sabres for years and has brought them to the Cup finals three times, produced a President's Trophy-winning team, and greatly improved the team since he first took control of it. They've been getting better every year under him, from fourth place to first. The players are talented, but through Ruff's coaching they've become something they couldn't have been on their own. Vancouver could've still done the same without Vigneault because they were all Luongo. Same for Pittsburgh and Therrien. The kids were already talented and they improved the team themselves through that talent. True, the Sabres were talented but Ruff made them use that talent to improve the team. That's why he's the best choice of the three nominees.

Did anyone else catch Ron McLean's slip up while hosting the show? Just after chatting with Sidney he said something like 'he's got a few more speeches to go tonight' basically indicating he was going to win the Hart. He tried to cover his mistake but it was too late by then.

Luongo sure didn't look too happy after the Hart trophy winner was announced. Pouting and pissed off.

I think Therrien and Ruff were both more deserving. Pittsburgh's talent is great but also very very young. Therrien had to harness the young talent and work it into the team concept. I believe he did a great job of that. Ruff is self-explanatory. Vigneault inherited a talented team that was above 500 and gained a top tier goalie in the process, and then lost in the 2nd round (almost out of the first). I don't see much merit there.

are you kidding Vigneault was the best candidate for the award, if luongo did it all and was the only reason why Vancouver got to the playoffs, then why was it his first year in the playoffs? Vigneault did alot of great things for the canucks this year, and Mik, your reasoning is a joke.

CANUCKS RULE!!!

Vigneault winning is sad. The Canucks where pretty useless and luongo was the only reason they got so far in the playoffs. Ruff deserved it even also therien deserved it more.

This is who I think should have won everything.

Hart: Roberto Luongo because without him the Canucks wouldn't be even close to the playoffs

Lady Byng: Joe Sakic he was the leader for the team and was just the gentilmaley player

Calder: This is a tough one Malkin and Stall are both playing with Sid, not on the same lines but power play and same goes with Statsney playing with Sakic so I would give it to Stall since he probably didn't play with Sid as much and was good defencively with 7 short handed goals

Selke: Brind'amour

Masterson: Kessel

Adams: Ruff, the team had over 200 man games lost from there starting roster and they still won the presidents trophy

Norris: Lidstrom, Pronger and Niedermayer are on the same team, Lidstrom did it by himself.

Vezina: Brodeur

Coach of the year candidates were Therien, Vigneault and Ruff.

Based on your logic then Therien couldn't have won it either because it was all about the Kids. Ruff had such a talented offensive players from the 1st to the 4th line as well as solid d-men and goalie, so he can't win it either.

So... the coach of the year would be??? Ken Hitchcock? Trotz? Andy Murray?

...In other news, Datsyuk won the Lady Byng, Malkin won the Calder, Brind'Amour won the Selke, Kessel got the Masterton, Vigneault won Jack Adams??? OK, that I have an issue with. Luongo did it all for Vancouver, and he has a completely different goaltending coach...anyway, Lidstrom got the Norris, and Brodeur got the Vezina (after his performance in the playoffs I'm not so sure, but he was great in the season so I guess it's OK).
