Perhaps the folks at CBC have been reading some hockey forums. These are welcome changes adn what many people on these forums have been asking for.

That's all he does and he is always repeating and saying well both teams want to win tonight, Bob I think everytime a team wants to play they want to win but thanks for the information Mr. I point out the obvious all the time. |

Bob Cole is GREAT at calling Leafs games.... well, at least when the Leafs have the puck. But listen to him when the other team has the puck. Stuff like "Montreal brings it ouf of the zone, passes it to another Canadien, and he dumps it in. Montreal gains possession in the corner..." I'd wager he says the team name about twice as much as the actual player name.
And the hits, good lord! If a Toronto player stands up an opponent, he'll call it a "thundererous body check", but if a Leaf gets nailed, he'll say, for example, "Sundin gets bumped".
I just hope this doesn't mean more Cole and Neale on the Western game. They won't know any of the players' names.

Yup, Bob Cole has been the voice of Saturday night hockey for my entire life. I love the guy. But at 74 it's time to scale it back a bit. You know, go out on top. He's been sliding slowly for about 5 years or so. I do like that he's not fully out in the pasture yet though. The new guys can learn a lot from him. |

About time the media laid off the Leafs bias (well, that was mostly TSN, but still...). I can't watch it of course, but good news for CBC viewers!! |

Glad to hear that we won't get as many Leafs games! Also glad to hear that Coles and Neale are taking a step back but NOT leaving entirely. I still like them but ol' bobby was a little slow.
I like Hughson but he needs some new material. BUT I can't stand Greg Millen and the fact that he is going to do colour for the big games drives me nuts. I rarely ever hear him call a play right, he makes stuff up half the time even after watching the replay. They could do so much better. Oh well. |
