Now that is awesome!!

Posted - 10/09/2007 : 17:40:36 The sickest part about Burke's comments is that he is basically saying that Lowe is a bad guy for not colluding with the other GMs. He's admitting that the GMs work together to keep the salaries low. If I was the NHLPA, I'd be recording his comments for an antitrust lawsuit in the future.
I think Lowe's first priority...make that his only priority...is the Edmonton Oilers. If Burke thinks Lowe gave too much to Penner, he should shut up and move on to the next guy (which he did...Todd Bertuzzi, as it were).
I commend Lowe for being creative in an effort to bring some players to Edmonton, seeing how the players in the league seem to prefer the nightlife of the big American cities over a true hockey town like Edmonton.

Posted - 10/05/2007 : 09:43:49 In my opinion, if it's such a big deal to sign someone to an offer sheet, the NHL would eliminate that from the CBA. Plus Burke got compensated with some good draft picks for his loss. Plus they're an etremely deep team, so the loss of Penner should not really affect them in a negative way...still a solid roster, especially with some of the younger gaining more prominent roles on the team.
Bottom line, Burke is wrong in this, same ting with Regier when he cried about Edmonton signing Vnaek to an offer sheet. They could easily each sign someone to an offer sheet in next free agent seasons to come.

Posted - 10/05/2007 : 08:49:35 When the Anaheim owners recover from their Stanley Cup hangover they may realize that Burke was the problem not Edmonton' GM Lowe.
The owners should be thinking "if Penner is so great, and Burke did not sign him then we need to get someone in here that will not let that happen again".
I think the offer sheet is great, and Burke should get over it. Next season you may see more GM's doing the same.
Getzlaf, and Perry are RFA next year better get to work Burke before you are looking for work...

Posted - 10/04/2007 : 18:16:25 Burke is an ego maniac but his comments are hilarious. Ovriously he is still pissed about the Penner deal but he is just losing respect around the league in my opinion. He cries whenever something doesn't go his way. WAKE UP BURKE!! You aren't gaining anything by running your mouth.

Kevin Lowe also made a comment about Burke just being Burke and he's alway been a bit of an ego maniac and that Burke must think because he just won the Cup, he has more time to spout off stuff like this.
I said it before and I'll say it again: If Burke would have locked up Penner earlier, what Lowe did couldn't have happened. Burke has no one to blame but himself. And if Lowe put a target on his back, so be it. If Lowe doesn't do his job and loses players to offer sheets, I'll also put the blame on Lowe.
