I'm sure IHC would'nt mind getting a piece of that one

Devils Fanatic - Crosby vs. Chara would be a massacre. Of course that may be what you're hoping for.

Alex - Gretzky was actually assessed three fighting majors over his career. The only one that even approximates a fight is Gretzky vs. Broten (on YouTube).

nashville - Emery vs. Hextall would be something to see.
nashvillepreds Posted - 12/07/2007 : 07:08:14
Ryan smyth doesn't just stand in front of the net. He digs for pucks, he's a power forward. He has grit and toughness that i have yet to see from Holmstrom.

Ellis or Mason?

Ryan Smyth does the same thing, but nobody hates on him? Dave Andrychuk made a career on doing that.

Standing infront of the net to tip pucks is a skill in itself, not to mention you have to be a little nuts to stand there while guys cross check you and hack you to get you to move.

He's definately not an elite player in the game, but don't say he doesn't make an effort. I'll say he makes more of an effort than Datsyuk or Zetteberg since he's taking a beating infront of the net.

Well I don't agree. He plays his entire game in front of goalies and finishes a lot of plays. And every team would pay big bucks to get them on their powerplay, he is a legend on the PP. 2 minutes of screening at the expense of getting hacked by the Belfours and such.

nashvillepreds Posted - 12/06/2007 : 16:16:49
Holmstrom shouldn't be on the first line. If it weren't for Datsyuk or Zetterberg, he would be a 40 point guy.

Ellis or Mason?

Alex Posted - 12/06/2007 : 16:07:09
Yes, but not a good fighter. I thought about something else: It is questionable if you add Holmstrom to that list, personally I say no, but he might be the toughest first liner in the NHL.

nashvillepreds Posted - 12/06/2007 : 15:59:44
Personally, I think Joe Thornton is very tough. He may not be a great fighter but he really hangs in there amongst the tougher guys. He's always getting pushed around yet he still hangs on to the puck to make the perfect pass or take the perfect shot. I think Heatley is a good fighter though.

Definitely not Thornton or St. Louis. I think Iggy has some skill in that department. Crosby is strong on the puck, I don't know about a fight. Lecavalier has size... Who would be your pick?

Between Iginla and Lecavalier
I say Iginla because he drops the gloves more often and has more experience come to fighting

Gretzky vs. Orr, settle the argument the old fashioned way.

Unfortunatly Gretzky would not stand a chance in a fight with Orr.

Orr was a tough customer, when he came into the league he was challenged by many of the tough guy's, and managed to hold his own...

But that would really not prove who is the best player...

I don't necessarily agree with everything I say.

Gretxky did get into a fight once, and lost. But the good players can't afford to spend 5 min. in the box.

I think if Sean Avery got the chance to fight Blake, he wouldn't. He isn't the type of person who would say that. That was to the side.

Conclusion: I would like to see Avery take on Tucker.

-Maurice Richard vs. Jarome Iginla .. I find they are very much alike.. some may disagree.. just my opinion
-Saku vs. Mikko hahaha
-Boogard vs Chara
-Worrell vs. Laroque (again)
...also he might not have been a franchise fighter for the habs but i always thought Corson was one of my favourite fighters on the habs even though he wasnt solely about fighting

dont underestimate kovalchuk, he is actually feisty and willing to stand up for himself.

ovechkin is a thick, strong dude though, no doubt about it.

My bad meant to put that for Crosby vs. Ovechkin, I think Ovechkin vs. Kovalchuk would be a very even hard fought fight.

- Kovolchuk vs Ovechkin (Kovolcuk wins)
- Gretzky vs Lemieux (Lemieux wins)
- Messier vs Howe (Mess wins)
- Coffey vs Orr (Coffey wins)
- Sakic vs Yzerman (who do you think? - last name begins with an 'S')
- Probert vs McSorely (tied - already happened - but wouldn't mind seeing a rematch)
- Felix Potvin vs Emery (Potvin wins)
- Chara against anyone is just plain unfair!
- Manon Rheaume vs Cassy Campbell (Cassy wins - only after both jerseys and padding, and any and all clothing has been ripped off - a fella can dream can't they!)

Laraque was (is still, but less so) so scary, tough guys would avoid him - they knew how damn strong he was.

I think Peter Worrell (not sure about spelling) was/is much stronger and bigger than Laraque.
