Yet another suspention to the flyers
this time betman says next time an inncodent like this happens the franchise will be punished.
Why is it always the fylers getting suspended for shots to the head or hitting from behind?
some of the calls are questionable but they are hits to the head and hits from behind

The only hit that the Flyers delivered that is worthy of thea 20 game suspension was the Downy hit. You leave your feet you do not deserve to play, he should of been tossed for the season.

the head shots happen... hitting from behind happens... for both of these types of hits I have been guilty of, but on the same token I have received both types of hits... It's a game that involves hitting most legal some not...
Don't do if you don't want it to happen to you..
Here is my first rant... the game is on.... lets have it...

You speak from a strictly legal and protocal standpoint. I cannot agree on that basis. But I think you have to look at the practical side. The NHL cannot get a reputation for being a league where players get routinely injured. They can't paint a picture of themselves as a league where size, coupled with knowing how to break a guys bones, is what counts. The Philadelphia Flyers, for one reason or another, have been injuring a lot of guys, end of story. They cannot continue to be hurting players, and they have to know the consequences. The only thing the NHL has over them is power, and they are morally obligated to exercise it, to get the message out that injuring players, no matter of intentions, has no part in the gane.

You know what, I think they just are not disciplined. I think, personally, they are ahead of themselves, and I can relate.

When you get rolling, which they have, moving from last to near the top of the Conference, the next order of business logically becomes improving on every aspect of your game. You start focusing on the little things: coming out of the gate strong, keeping your legs moving, playing your positions, and, yes, the physical aspect.

I remember last season I was recently coming out a bit of a slump. The guy behind the net was getting a pass, looking down, and I knew I could belt him and probably cut in front for an easy goal. I raced in, not thinking of what I was really doing. The guy turns, I cross check him from behind, and I get ejected. All purely accidental.

Like any sport, hockey requires extreme mental strength. Something, that, for example, could take Afinnogenov to the next level; turn Afinogenov into an elite player. The Flyers are hot and a little ahead of themselves. That's my opinion, talking out of experience. There are, honestly, no head hunters on that team and I challenge you to disagree.

I think the NHL is picking on the Flyers a bit. Jones' hit was exactly as harmful as last night's hit by Bonk on Harrison. Yet Bonk receives no suspension.

I personally think it's a symptom of last year's Stanley Cup winners. The Cup champs also lead the league in PM and fighting majors. Interestingly enough, the next season fighting majors increase??? Wonder why.

However, I think Philly seems to have taken the physical style of play too far. I agree that Clarke is not the problem. I just think that as an organization(same as all NHL teams), they have a responsibility to control their players.

There have been 68 games of suspensions to this point in the year and 52 games are against Flyer players and 16 against the rest of the league, I agree that something has to be said against that organization.

Above that, I think the message should be sent to ALL the teams. Player susupensions may be piggy backs with fines or other negative impacts (loss of draft picks, loss of Cap Money, etc) to the organization as well. A good example of this was Calgary in the Play Offs last year. McLennen came in for like 15 seconds and got like 20 minutes in penalties and kicked out of the game. Then there was something like 4 or 5 stick infraction penalties called against Calgary in the last 7 minutes of the game. The coach got fined $50,000 and the team got a $100,000 fine for that. Good on the NHL.

Wayne or Bobby?? How about both!!!

yeah but, he's not the reason why the flyers are getting all the suspenions.
I wasn't sure if he was still in the organization

That's a great idea Irvine, but now you're thinking logical and not realistic. There is no way the NHL will ever adopt such a thing. There is no way to go about that since that type of procedure cannot be standardized, and would be left solely to the discretion of a few people in a baordroom.

I never said it whether or not it would be effective or even fit the crime, but, it is in my opinion likely what the "punishment" will be.

I mean, teams and players are fined all the time. It doesn't always fit the crime, and likely does not get to any of them because let's face it, it's a small chunk of what they make. But, what else can you do here?

Perhaps the draft pick route would be more effective?

Blake was just ignoring him, he didn't care. Tucker is a big whiner who tries to make himself look big and tough, like Avery so he just came over.

Ya but there's a difference. For Tucker to say that, honestly and without mocking the system, an investigation should go into how he dare say that. I love the guy but that crossed the boundary in so many ways. If indeed Avery had said something, would Mr. Blake have needed an attorney who beats people up for a living? I think not.

Especially when that's what he makes him money for - trach talking!

I don't believe he said anything about cancer tough, even he is too humane to do such a thing. Tucker probably started a scandal not realizing its potential.

This is just a guess, but...

I would guess the punishment would be in the area of loss of a draft pick and/or hefty fine to the team/franchise.

It could be anything of course, just my guess.

Bobby Clark has nothing to do with this, yes he was a dirty player back in the day, but he's not even the GM anymore I dont't even think he has anything to do with the organization

Ed Jovanovski was suspeded this season...

It will more than likely be a coaching suspension, or a hefty fine.

In all the years that I have watched hockey I have never seen so many suspensions to one team...

I don't necessarily agree with everything I say.

Honestly what is the league going to do to them, not let them make the playoffs?
