Posted - 12/10/2007 : 06:49:05 As Dallas Stars fan i've known for a while that the Stars have been looking for a Good First line player and finally its looks like they found a deal. TSN has reported that the Stars will send Turco to the Tampa Bay Lightning for Martin St. Louis. I think its good trade for Dallas because Smith can now carry the starting duties and St. Louis can help boost the offence. The only thing im worried about is that St. Louis might not produce when de doesnt' have Lecavier. Just wanted to know what you think.

Ya well im going to be laughing at you because even if this trade doesn't happen 1 of the 3 Superstars on Tampa is going to be traded. You bring up the no-trade clause s*** but it doesnt matter people. Anybody who knows hockey knows that something is going to happen in Tampa.

I never brought up the no trade clause, get your facts straight bud

Stoll, and Torres to Boston for Murray, that would definetly be a bad trade as I see it for Edmonton, Murray is 34, youth for age...
Murray is not very consistant. he went 13 games with no goals this season so far, very streaky...

Puck, I agree that both would be a poor trade. I think Stoll is still a keeper, but if they could get Torres and a middle of the road prospect (a la Robbie Shremp) for Murray, that's a move. Torres is underachieving, has underachieved his entire career, and is showing no signs of improving.
Wayne or Bobby?? How about both!!! |

If Tampa is going to unload salary, then this is not the trade for them. Turco makes more than St. Louis in the next few seasons, therefore the trade would land them a good starting goalie, but higher salary to clear for the upcomming free agents.

If he reported it last week then is it really going to happen?
St. Louis is the lower paid of the three, he is locked up untill 2011/12 the sam as Richards.
Lecavlier is under contract to the end of the 2009/10 season...
Tampa has 11 UFA's at the end of this season, so I am sure they will have to move a player or two, but they are also 6 mil under the cap so far...

Posted - 12/10/2007 : 11:14:17 Ok, let's clear something up really quick. Wayne wanted to leave Edmonton. He just married a model/actress of LA plus, he was sick of being mobbed when ever he left his house. Also, Pocklington was incredibly greedy. It's not that the Oilers couldn't afford him anymore. And LA??? Gretzky asked for a trade out so he could contend for a Cup again. It wasn't that they couldn't afford him either.
In Tampa's case, yes, they will have to get very creative if they want to resign Lecavalier. All I am saying is that of those three players, he is the last I would get rid of as a GM. Unless the trade was equitable. That would be pretty tough.

Yes, St. Louis and Richards have no trade clauses but that doesn't mean that they are easier to trade than Lecavalier. Vinny is argueable the best player in the league, and at the least a top 3 player. Why Tampa would get rid of him is completely beyond me.
Why did Edmonto, and L.A. get rid of Wayne? Boston got rid of Joe Thornton. We've seen premier players get traded a lot.
The reason? It's all about the Benjamins baby. Tampa can't afford to keep all three.
Funny thing, I work in the same building as the NHLPA in Toronto, and I just saw St. Louis in the lobby, should have asked him what he thought of the rumour.

Posted - 12/10/2007 : 10:48:37 I also heard the rumor that Stoll and Torres from Edmonton could be part of a trade to Boston for Glen Murrey. Both Stoll and Torres were healthy scratches for the last game and Edmonton has been looking for more consistant scoring. Torres just signed a contract in the off season but has been underperforming and Stoll is an RFA this summer.
Might be possible, but who knows.

Posted - 12/10/2007 : 06:52:33 Both St. Louis and Richards have no-trade clauses, and would have to waive them. Lecavalier is the one without the no-trade, and would be easier to trade.
Do you know if St. Louis has already waived it?
