As it seems his career has come to a tragic end, or at least it looks that way, do you think that Peter Forsberg is worthy of being inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame? |

1) Ok, Since when does winning a cup get you into the hall of fame?
2) Happens with a bunch of players, main player that comes to mind is Simon Gagne.
3) THIS will get him into the hall, not winning a cup.
Yes, leafsfan does have a point with 1 and 2. Most inductees have won at least one cup, if not all of them. Also he does always play his type of game, even right after coming back from injury. The third one alone is enough to get him in, I'd say.

the hall of fame wouldnt turn into a could of been greats. he was great "the next one" was a premier power forward in the 90's who dominated every aspect of the game when he was on the ice, passing, shooting, skating, hitting, always won his fights in amazing fashion every thing he ruled at it hewas truly dominant |

I would tend to agree with you, Slozo, that the HOF shouldn't have too many people with injury-shortened careers on it. I believe that having too many hall-of-famers that only played til they were 30 and then were hurt, would create a hall of fame of "could've been great". However, I think both Forsberg and Lindros (although i hate to say it) had great careers and deserve to be mentioned with the best players of all time.

I actually don't think he should get in the HHOF, same as Lindros, btw.
Just my opinion, but I think for a shortened career, exceptional career stats should be required for HHOF status (like Orr, for example, or Mike Bossy). Not just great ones.

Yes, but only if Eric Lindros gets in as well.
Both have similar stats. Eric has 372 Goals, 493 Assists, for 865 points.
He won championships on the international stage at the World Juniors, Canada Cup and the Olympics. The only thing he was missing is a Stanley Cup.

He will not make a come back but he will be inducted into the hall of fame
He is one of the greatest Swedish players ever
He also excelled at many aspects of the game!!!

thorton sometimes has trouble getting to the 20 goal mark,,,, is he not gonna be a hofamer?? forsberg is a complete a player as they get i really hope he takes this year off gets all his stuff together and makes a complete season comeback next year!!

yes he was a great player. some people say that because he never scored more than thirty goals or was injured so much that he should not be in. i dont know what you guys think about that, but stats arent everything, and he played enough games to show us that he was a dominant player in the league.

HaHaHa yes without a doubt. He is one of the most decorated players in the history of the sport and that is no coincidence. He is/was one of the very few players you could actually see clearly dominating entire games when on the ice.
There is as of now only 19 players who have won both WC, Olympics and the Stanley cup - The Triple Gold Club. Forsberg is one of the three players who have double membership meaning they have two wins in each category, the other two being Fetisov and Larionov.
You can maybe guess by my avatar that its a small possibility that i could be a bit biased but i think he is the best player who ever laced the skates.

There's no question he'll be in. He's one of those guys that proves players don't need a 15-20 year career for others to understand how good they are.

Yes, no questions asked. He is one of the greatest Swedish players to play the game and he excells at the game. I would be shocked if he was not inducted on his first ballot. |
