You have got to love Jarkko Ruutu. Did anyone see his shootout goal last night. He loves to fake the shot with the leg kick and then deke to the backhand. Sidney Crosby has nothing on Jarko. |

he might be a chump but he does his job well and that is to agitate! If he gets some pretty goals along the way, good on him. |

I thought the move was pretty sweet. What I thought was interesting about it is that he did it from so far out. usually guys make do the fake a lot closer in. It made it appear pretty fluid. I think the goalie was not expecting such a fine deke from a 3rd/4th liner. |

Lame? Maybe over used but not lame. It was pretty sweet especially coming from a guy that is not known for his goal scoring ability. I agree that goalies should start studying shootouts a little more - you think they would. Jarkko pulled the exact same move and scored on a penalty shot last week. I called it, you think Aebischer would have seen it coming.
And ya Jussi Jokinen is great. Talk about shootout specialist - I always thought that goal was pretty cheaky when Zhamnov would do it. With shootouts happening more and more and that extra point being so important, Jokinen is a huge asset right now. |

Hate to burst your bubble, but that is the lamest, most commonly tried shootout move in the NHL. I can't believe goalies still get fooled by it.
What is amazing is Jussi Jokinen, 8/8 in shootouts, pulling off his now patented move TWICE IN A COUPLE WEEKS. Do goalies not watch what happens around the league? I thought goalies studied shooters... Although I guess Legace wouldn't have expected him to do it again so soon. |
