I believe that beans does have a brain and i agree with him. I can't see anybody on the team this year. The only player i can think of would be Bernier or Mason, if they count because they're goalies.

Ellis or Mason?

No, not all teams have a franchise player. Some have more than one, others have zero. For example Detroit has 3 guys I would consider franshise players (Zetterberg, Datsyuk, and Lidstrom). Anaheim, I would say has 2 (Pronger and Getzlef). A team like Edmonton?? Not sure if they even have one. Hemsky is about the closest thing. Montreal?? Not sure if they have one either.

What I consider a franchise player is a guy that if there was an expansion draft, he's the guy you would not ever want to leave. A guy you could build a team around.

I don't really see any of the guys who played in the JR's this year as that kind of player. Some great players no doubt, but a guy you would put the future of your team into?? I just didn't see it.

Wayne or Bobby?? How about both!!!

No franchise players? Are you nuts? The fact is there are usually a few franchise players on every team Canada edition. Often there are one or two guys that can be considered future "Hall Of Famers". Tavares and Stamkos are future superstars for sure, and one can't forget the fact that these guys are the youngest guys on the team. The WJC is traditionally dominated by 19 year-olds, and it is very rare to see front-liners with a couple years of eligibility remaining. The other guy I like is Kyle Turris. He projects like a Steve Yzerman type and will be carrying the Coyotes for years to come.

how can you say that a guy who broke wayne gretzky's records in the whl and just led his team to a fourth straight championship can not be a franchise player?
please explain!

I didn't really see anyone on that team that could be a "franchise player" in the NHL. So potential good or borderline great NHLer's, but no franchise type players.

In my opinion, a franchise player is a top 30 player in the league. I can't see any of those kids be there. Maybe Tavares, but he has a lot of development to get there. There is a reason he was used only on the PP in the first few games. And, if Canada had any offense outside of that line with Tavares, he more than likely only would have seen PP time.

Wayne or Bobby?? How about both!!!

It has to be Tavares. No questions asked.
Stamkos didn't look as good as I thought he was in the World Juniors. Turris looks like he could be pretty good, but I honestly think Tavares will do more for whatever team he gets drafted to. Boston got lucky with Marchand.
