Posted - 01/24/2008 : 17:19:28 I've seen Conklin play alot when he was in the Ahl(hamilton bulldogs). He is at very best a backup. I have never been impressed. |

OK but as is the nature of the beast, Conklin is another streaky goalie. Remember Aubin two years ago went 9-0-1, and then last year he hardly played?
Anyone willing to pick up Conklin is risking a lot. Just in comparisson, how much is Pascal Leclaire making?

Posted - 01/17/2008 : 14:58:42 Thank you Beans. I fully agree with you. (I posted along the same lines of what you did just before, so I am not jumping YOUR bandwagon lol) However, in regards to your point about jumping the bandwagon, let me show you where it started unless you did not read it

Posted - 01/17/2008 : 14:41:15 I can't believe the bandwagon jumping on here!!
Conklin wins 10 games and your ready to give him the Vezina, any starting job he wants, and a $10 million salary??
Outside of his current 10 games, he has been a well below average goalie for the past 5 years. He's spent more time in the minors than in the NHL, and the games he has played have been less than stellar. 30 wins in 76 games???
Conklin will end up very much like Aubin. Where is that again?? Oh ya, Backing up a weak goalie.
Wayne or Bobby?? How about both!!! |

Posted - 01/17/2008 : 14:22:28 The only reason for giving up Toskala would be to free up cap space? There is absolutely nothing wrong with Toskala.......check out his stats.......pretty good stats for playing on a bad team I would say? If you meant Raycroft then I understand and concur with you. I believe you will see a tandem of Toskala and Pogge in the Leaf nets next year. |

Posted - 01/17/2008 : 10:32:35 I think the Pens will keep Conklin on, to spur on Fleury. The way of the NHL these days is to have have two decent goalies, so I very much doubt the rumours of trading either one.
Which is a shame, because I could really use Fleury getting traded . . . I have him in the pool!
Hard to say really, but my guess is Conklin remains a back-up goalie for his career. |
