http://www.pickuphockey.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3105
Anyways, here is the scoop:
My pool works as follows, 1 pt for goal / assist, 2 pt goalie win of any kind, 5 additional pt goalie shutout of any kind including a shootout loss. Once a month we can make as many in-pool trades as we want, as well as being allowed to pick up free agents. Any injured players can get traded for free agents as well as ONE other player you wish to dish off for a FA. Now, my pool also includes playoffs which makes things a little trickier.
My roster:
Alfredsson Zetterberg Crosby Malkin Spezza Savard Sundin Gaborik Sedin, H. Jagr Morrow Kane Pronger Campbell Phaneuf Vanek Kaberle Visnovsky Nabokov Lundqvist
I wanted to stack up on playoff contenders and the Ducks were my best bet. First of all I traded Savard to my brother for Getzlaf. My un-injured free agent that I will pick up is J.S. Giguere in exchange for Lundqvist. I am dropping Crosby, who is injured, for probably Corey Perry.
Here is where the brains come in.
My brother has Michael Nylander who is injured. I am giving him Patrick Kane to pick up Nylander. Why? This allows me to make yet another free agent trade as Nylander is injured. In effect, I traded Kane for a free agent!
My question is, who of the following is the best pick:
Holmstrom, Selanne, Perry or Fisher. I can pick any two of the four! Help me though guys, I have until around seven tonight to finalize my decision!

Posted - 02/03/2008 : 10:54:39 You just have to pick Selanne and Perry because they both can stack up points and Anaheim has a pretty good chance of repeating of what they did last year. |

Posted - 02/03/2008 : 10:04:16 My roster:
Alfredsson - Keep Zetterberg - Keep Crosby - Dump or Trade, Possibly to one of your non hockey savy people and maybe get a player like Ovechkin or Iginla Malkin - Keep Spezza - Keep Savard - Keep Sundin - Dump or Trade, Go for Mike Ribeiro he's got 59 points and Dallas is doing really good right now. Gaborik - Keep Sedin, H. - Keep Jagr - Keep (Rumors that he's gonna be traded at deadline so he might be able to do good.) Morrow - Keep Kane - Dump or Trade, It's risky but go for someone on Carolian liek Stillman or Staal. But only if you want to take risk of them making playoffs in the Southeast a win is the difference between 9th and 3rd. Pronger - Keep Campbell - Dump or Trade, Try and get Zubov, Rafalski or Markov. Phaneuf - Keep Vanek - Dump or Trade, Go for Plekanec or Kovalev, Habs are on fire right now and these guys are leading the way (im sure you know ) Kaberle - Dump or Trade, Try and get Zubov, Rafalski or Markov. Visnovsky - Dump or Trade, Try and get Zubov, Rafalski or Markov. Nabokov - Keep Lundqvist - Dump or trade, Good move picking up Giguere |

Posted - 02/03/2008 : 09:53:03 Ya Perry playing with Getzlaf and Bertuzzi is a big boost and he can rakc up alot of points and im expecting Anaheim to go deep in the playoffs so he should be able to pick up a pretty hefty amount of points. Holmstrom again is on the top line and I am expecting Detroit to go far aswell so same thing. Also your poolies aren't hockey savy? Do they think Crosby is God like every other hockey watcher not hockey knower? If they are try and dish off Crosby for a guy like Ovechkin or Iginla. |

Posted - 02/03/2008 : 09:31:15 The thing is my poolies are not very hockey savy. They will look at the undrafted points leaders and since Selanne will not be there I do not have to worry about him getting taken unless they hear that he returned on TSN or something.
So I guess a first liner on the President's trophy team and a young gun on a defending champ is pretty safe eh? And wait until Teemu has some more results under his belt?
Fisher I think I will leave until the end, I don't like Ottawa's playing of late..
