You're right. I'm the next Mickey Grimes. Who is that, you may ask yourselves, he is the captain of the senior "c" team in my town. And what good is that? It isn't any good to make realistic comparisons because nobody knows who your talking about, who he is, or what style of game he plays. It's just a comparison, we never once said we were the next "Crosby, Ovechkin, or Lecavalier."

Smaller than Irbe....Play like Hasek....actually he plays like me...I've been all flippy floppy since i was 5...and I'm almost 33 now...the whole grabbing the puck with the blocker hand....I was doin' that in like '85...before I had seen Dom play anywhere but in the Canada Cup.I played Ice hockey for about 10years....now just floor hockey. No League anymore either...just rec...but it's fun.

What I was trying to say when to compare yourself is not that you're going to be the next best thing but Mats Sundin plays the same kind of game I play. Or Marian Gaborik plays the same kind of game that Alex plays. Were not saying were going to be like them but how they play in the NHL is the same kind of game we play in our respected league. Not as good, but the same type. |

I play Bantam AAA, I'm the smallest guy on my team. I don't have too bad of a shot, I play really gritty for my size, I can hit the big guys and the small guys, I can score although I'm a playmaker. I would compare myself to Crosby because he can score and pass although I not even as close as good. |

Um, i can't really think of anyone better that i play like so i'm going to have to say Brent Burns. solid defensive defenceman. Except he has way more talent offensivly than i'll ever have!

I am the best defense man in my class. i don't know how to skate, i don't have hockey equipment, but i still am crazy about the sport. I play ball hockey in phys ed by the way

With all these comparisons to these great NHL player, I guess I need to show so more respect!! It seems like I have been talking hockey with the next crop of World Juniors!!!
At least a couple of people had the bollocks to say they were not that great of hockey players.

I'm in Bantam hockey right now. I'm a big power forward type. I have nice hands for a big guy and a good shot. I love to hit and play that gritty game down low. I can protect the puck really well. I'm also a pretty smart player and I'm rarely out of position and I find the opening in the slot. Skating is my weakest part of my game. I have to improve that. If I can improve my skating I could play some pretty good competitive hockey in my mind. If I would compare myself to any player. Mats Sundin would be one. Or Bertuzzi in his prime.
That's actually a good point. In your post you should put who you compare yourself to. |

I'm the best passer, stickhandler, shooter and skater in my league. I'm so fast I blow by everybody and then I just roof the puck top corner. 
You guessed it, I'm a goalie.

I am curently playing senior hockey after a short stint in the Jr. leauge a few years back. I am a smaller faster player that loves to hit and drop the mits when challenged. I guess you could say i play like Tucker. |

This is one interesting topic, I am currently a 15 year old hockey player that loves the game and if I were to classify my hockey style, it would have to be a consistent playmaker.
I'm amazed at the players that play a subtle smart hockey game and are the guys that work so hard that all his linemates have to do is tap in the loose pucks. (Hemsky, Crosby) those are the players that kids hould mold their game around.
as for my game, I like to handle the puck and move into high traffic areas, I have pretty good size which makes it easy to protect the puck from hounding defensemen.
All skill is how I like to play. |

Great hockey story, CaliforniaSeal.
I was a short, fat kid who couldn't skate well, because we were poor and I could only afford cheap old skates. Quit after one game of the house league, as the kids laughed me off the ice because of my ancient skates.
In my late teens/early twenties, I was big and strong, but still couldn't skate worth a damn - so I played ball hockey for a bit. I was one of the "tough guys" on D, even though they didn't allow fighting. Played a season and a half . . . the half being because I was automatically banned after my third fight. But that fight capped a Gordie Howe hattrick for me, even though it was only my second goal all year - proudest moment ever!
I never touched a hockey stick again, other than a couple of road hockey games.

Plain and simple I sucked at playing hockey...
Start at age 12 and done by 16...
I was the short fat kid on every House League team in hockey across our country...
But I played..... I became a referee, cause I could skate and knew the game very well.
Now I coach my son's....
4 short years of being the crappiest one on the team. BUT WOULD NOT CHANGE IT FOR THE WORLD.
Kicker my little brother was good player, rep hockey...and still play's rec hockey.

I have played ice hockey once with getting one assist so I am a point a game player!!! ha ha
My parents tried to get me into hockey but at that time my right ankle was very weak and skating really really hurt so I gave up. Besides my life was SOCCER. I played summer and winter non stop. Almost moved to England when I was 13 to try and give it a go over there.
I did play road hockey every day and I have to say I was usually one of the better players, better than some of the guys that actually played hockey. Had a wicked slapshot and could deke pretty good so I wish I could have found out how good/bad a hockey player I could have been. Probably wouldnt have made it though... |

I play defence but have little to no skill. I am actually a decent defensive defence but i can't slap shot worth a hoot and i have limited stick handling abilities. My hockey sense is not very good. In general, i am not a very good hockey player. The only thing that allows me to compete with people way over my skill level is the fat that i work my butt off! i dig and dig and won't back down. I find that if you work hard, you can cover up a lot of your mistakes.

I was always the smallest, but usually the fastest on the ice. Given my size, I had to rely on my speed to keep me out of trouble. As a small player I did have the nifty advantage of being able to take out large players at the knees, whereas I was hard to hit for a lot of guys because they'd have to almost hunch down to take my body. I was only really vulnerable in the corners. And I got drilled in to the glass on many occasions.
My highlights production-wise was in my Pee Wee year, when I scored 78 goals and 56 assists. My average was about 40 goals a season. I played a combination of either house league/all-star teams and eventually AA.
I had nowhere to go after Major Midget and that's when I stopped playing organized hockey. |

I played in a competitive league in the 80's. I played for 4 different teams. My first 2 years I was primarily a third and fourth liner. Had a weak shot, fair stickhandler, great speed.
-Best moment-scoring 4 goals in the first period after napping through the warm-up. Coach suggested I should take more naps before a game.
The next 2 years I joined the chief rival of my old team. I was used sparingly. I became an agitator. My only goal in the first season with this team was credited to another player. In the second season I scored a hat trick in the first playoff game and sat on the bench the second game. I walked out on the team when were behind by 6 goals and the coach still refused to play half the bench.
-Best moment-After getting slashed in the lower shins by the opposing goalie I grabbed his mask (cage style) and shook his head feverishly. It came very close to a bench clearing brawl.
My fifth year was my best. Myself and two good friends joined a last place team to get more playing time. We became the team's scoring leaders. I excelled in all aspects of my game and I now had one of the better shots in the league. We also had the worst goaltender I had ever seen. He was the reason we only won one game that year. Without him we would have won half of them.
-Best moment-For our first game we were told to bring a red shirt because our jerseys would not be ready. As a joke me and my 2 friends wore La Coste collared shirts and we were dubbed the "preppie line" for the season.
My last season before my career ending knee injury was low key. I played on a team that wore purple LA kings style jerseys. This team had never won a game and when I scored 2 goals in my first game they remarked that it was the first time the team had scored more than one goal in a game. I only played 4 games and had 7 points. I felt that I was at my peak when my right knee locked and tore the MCL. Three surgeries later and my knee is still not right.
-Best Moment-Scoring a goal from deep within my own end.
Last 2 years I joined a league in Calgary. Both knees hurt like hell. I was the slowest player in the league and both teams dropped me after a dozen games each. I was the oldest player in the league at 44. I still managed to score 4 goals and add two assists. My agitation had worn off as I only had one penalty.
-best moment-Just playing

No MSC, I purposely point out that I am playing in a low league this year [:p
Last year, playing in a respectable but still not anything amazing, I was a third liner at best. It didn't help that my winger got injured for the year, and I wound up playing on the crash and bang line while being the fastest and smallest on the ice!
When you put contact in to the game (thought it's been a while since I played at that lever) I am not able to just side step guys. I got belted a lot, and you can imagine what that does for your stanima.
However, I think that the ''going down to the minors'' program has really helped. The odd time I play up at that level again I have been one of the best on the ice.
Let me say that the highest I have played formally is Select hockey, no A, AA or AAA so you won't see me in the NHL

I can count on one hand how many times I have played ice hockey. When I was younger my folks didn't have the funds to put me into hockey, and I never really learned how to skate all that well.
I did play ball hockey for about 10 years. Does that count??
Using Yanic Perault in NHL '05 (he is 99 on faceoffs) I broke Gretzky's season record in one game! I fired it directly off the faceoff (games were 20 minutes, level beginner, pulled goalie, no line changes). It was retarded!

I use my speed. I am strong on the puck and can fight in the corners. And I can get around people, but rarely dangle succesfully. This year I am playing in a lower league than last year, as a rushing defence, much to the style of Bobby Orr, but not entirely. I blow by people with ease, and can skate back and forth faster than many can skate forth, but need a little tweaking on the defensive aspects of the game to win games single handedly.

thats the shame about our game beans its more then just expensive,,,,,,,,,, and too many enthusiast just never get there shot,,,, its weird actuallyt my dad is a farmer never had much time to play hockey or the funds growing up to play organized but he made damn sure i got the chance to play if i wanted to every year built me a rink i was skateing the winter after learning to walk,,,,, and as the poster failed to bring goalies into this one i'll just say i'm the kind of goalie with limited talent but learnt how to play the game like the back of my hand being square with the puck giving a shooter as little net as i could is how i git r done,,,, and i live by the expression those who can't do teach,,,,, i couldn;t make it,,,, though i did get somewhere,, now i teach,,,,

I won every award that a forward can win as well as the Conn Smythe and the Calder.
