Steve Yzerman: (Facts and Opinions)
137 Points in the 92/93 season. (his second best season point wise) this is the most in points gotten in a season other then Lemieux(twice), Oates, and Lafontaine and Jagr since '93. His two seasons after were cut short by injuries. Had he not been injured he would probably be top ten at least I would say. After '93 he had notable seasons of 82, 95, 85, and 74, points wise. He captained Stanley Cup teams in 97', 98, and 02. He won the Lester Patrick Trophy in 2006.
He won the Selke Trophy in 2000
He won the Conn Smythe in '98
And for good measure (although somewhat irrelevant) was ranked #6 by the hockey news in the Top 60 since 1967.

LF1010 I'm gonna disagree with you. Jagr was playing with one of the best players to play the game, Mario Lemieux. And he also played with Ron Francis. Of course he is going to score a lot of points with them. Who has Sakic played with? Forsberg was the only great player to play with him. But Forsberg doesn't even measure to Lemieux. Excluding Forsberg who has Sakic had to play with? Hejduk?Brunette? C'mon! Also Sakic and Forsberg weren't even on the same line. Power Play was the only time they'd play together.
For Sakic to put up those numbers with not that much help is fantastic. Switch Sakic and Jagr and see what you get. I think Sakic would have way more points then Jagr does now.
Also. Sakic is a way better Captain then Jagr will ever be. That's another thing that sets him apart. |

He got a 69 goal seson in 60 and 70 games, was an amazing captain, 35 goals in 43 games, 160 points in 60 games and had a 1.78 point per game average, 0.71 goals pergame average and a 1.08 assists per game average. Find somebody who can top that.

Because we're looking at his accomplishments AFTER 1993. No doubt, I do believe he deserves in the top 5, but the #2 spot in my mind should go to someone who played there primes after 1993. Lemieux's prime was in the 80's.

No, in the first round, I thought I had to second somebody because There were already five people. I read through the top 50 since 67 list though and now I understand how this works.
Back to our original discussion though, why isn't Lemieux the best since 93 and who's better?

You don't need to second someone. You second someone when the player is nominated by someone else and you feel he should be in that spot, you second him so he can be on the vote list. If you feel that Lemieux should be in this round, then you can nominate him and hope someone seconds him. Look at OILINONTARIO, he wants Bob Gainey so bad, but no one is seconding him so he isn't in the vote list so far. Nash, I'm sure the next round, if you nominate him someone will second him. |

Nash. In the top 50 since 67 one, we've had votes where we only vote for two players or 3. Judging by it anyway, Lemieux probably wouldn't have made number 1 in this round.
Edit- Nash I made a mistake in throwing it in the other forum. I apologize. If you think he's the best. You should have nominated him earlier and someone could have seconded him. We go with the players who have been nominated and seconded. We don't need to have 5 players for each vote list. If we can, that's great, but it won't happen that much. |

I think Lemieux should be a part of this voting, you're only allowed to nominate 5 players per round so regardless of if Shinny seconded or not, he should be allowerd in this round. Well, it's not my decision though.
