At the start of the season everyone was impressed with Bobby Clarke's moves to acquire Forsberg and Hatcher. We all sat and waited for him to add a legitimate number one goaltender to finally make them a serious cup contender. It never happened.

Not that I am placing all of the blame on Robert Esche because the entire team was bad - but when will Clarke ever learn? Every good franchise builds their team around their goaltender. (And for those that don't - really should)

If Clarke doesn't lose his job then it is official - he has pictures of the owner in bed with a farm animal.

The Flyers were built for the NHL rules of a few years ago. Big, strong, agressive and physical. Too bad they ended up playing one of the smallest and fastest teams in the NHL and got their clocks cleaned. Esche wasn't spectacular, no one can deny that but he was left to hang out and dry for all the odd man rushes that the Sabres got because the Flyers were caught flat-footed. I think Clarke is mostly to blame for having built a great team for the wrong game.
