Posted - 05/25/2006 : 09:34:24 Pittburgh and Colorado have made a decision on who will be their new GMs. Pittsburgh should announce today that Ray Shero, former asst. GM in Nashville, is their new GM. Boston was rumored to be talking to him but word is he wasn't happy with the amount of power he would have there.
I think it is detrimental to the team when these long time GMs still stick around within the organization. For example, no matter who they hire as GM, Boston's Harry Sinden and Long Islands Mike Milburry will still want to have a say in hockey decisions.
I guess the Giguere situation in Colorado is a bit different since he was Lacroix's apprentice for many years and now he is back to take over. Although Lacroix will probably continue to have a say into player decisions.
