I know this is a very small story in the hockey world but don't you think it's a joke that Sundin signs with the canucks and now in order for him to play Jannik Hansen is sent to Manitoba. Sundin just took away a roster spot from a rookie who has worked hard in the past playing 10 games in 2006-2007 with the nucks in the playoffs when they ran into injury trouble then only being called up for 5 games the next season and then as soons as the canucks let him stay for his rookie season he gets sent back down.
Sure Sundin is a great player and will be a more effective player then Hansen but is it really fair to take away his roster spot for a guy who has finally been playing his rookie season. I don't know maybe im the only one who finds that unfair for Hansen.

part of hockey sadly in the NHL and every level you play your whole life there always a chance your spot is never secure

AV had been not impressed with hansens play of late anyways...they could of sent jaffray down instead but he had been playing better then janik...canucks are full of injuries to there 3rd and 4th lines if Johnson Pyatt of Rypin were healthy he still probably be sent down..so i dont think its Mats fault, janik needs to find his game again and when he does AV will call him back up.

I don't think you can say it's wrong for Sundin to bump the kid. He's played long enough and well enough to be able to be choosey about where he plays and the league's GMs have obliged him. Don't get mad at him for Hansen being bumped, that's a management decision.

I also think because it's Sundin, there's a negativity that's swelled up around him because of his indecision. If Vancouver made some trade that landed say Kovalchuk or Nash and Hansen had to get bumped to the minors, nobody would be saying "that Nash is such a prick, he worked too hard to get bumped by Nash".

As for why he's never won, I think that's a different topic.

everyone feels for the kid, however... when a kid busts his butt to get drafted, hired, etc.. whatever you want to call it, and then plays hard to stay on whatever team hired him - it is WRONG for an old fart like Sundin to dictate where he wants to play and bump a kid out. if he really wants to touch the cup, go to the Hockey hall of fame. why does he think he deserves to win a cup? he played all these years, never won, and that's that! maybe he's just NOT good enough

You have to ice the best team possible. This is a business not a house league team where everyone is treated equal. You have to feel for the kid, but that's the way the cookie crumbles.

This guy looks promising too with a little flare here and there. When it comes to Sundin retiring and Hansen resigning, and when he opts to check out the market look no further then here. But he may understand and it might not even affect him.
