Posted - 01/27/2009 : 13:34:57 Mr. Prongers name has recently surfaced in various media outlets as a potential trade candidate, all of which depends on how well The Ducks perform heading into the trade deadline. That being said, if he were to move, where do you think the most likley destinations would be? Which contending team needs a badass blueliner, has the cap space to do it, and would be willing to part with some assets? I have to admit, it would be a tough fit in most places. I would love to see him go to Washington or Pittsburgh, not saying its realistic, but it would be alot of fun to watch.

Yup. That and Prongs is the only remaining big 3 defencemen on ANA to have a contract next year. Beauchemin and Nieds are UFAs. Unless ANA plans to lose their top 3 defencemen, they will trade Prongs.
Prongs is staying put. |

Posted - 01/28/2009 : 19:59:32 The problem with today's NHL is that a team has a far harder time dropped a bigger salary for draft picks and prospects. Most team are at or near the CAP or do not wish to spend to the cap.
For a trade for a superstar to happen, the team trading the superstar will have to swallow at least a reasonable contract to make the deal .
Here's one for you.
Pronger for Gomez or Drury.
NYR has no shortage of forwards. I think the would prefer to drop Gomez over Drury because of Drury's historic clutch playoff action.
But think about that team?? Pronger?? A rock of a defensemen that can eat up 27+ a game??? Think of that PP with Redden and Pronger on the points with Naslund, Zherdev, and who ever else the want as forwards??
I like that move. |

i think the point of tradeing progner A is to free cap space (briere has a bigger contract and hardly the same calibre of player) i think they will be looking for young prospects or young nhlers... all still on entry level contracts and drafts picks

lol .... well being a habs fan i can only imagin 6ft 5 Chris Pronger next to 6ft 5 Mike Komisarek ........ attacking forwards thought bubble "dump the puck and lazily go after it " he would be the missing pieace of the Canadiens Stanly cup puzzle i believe
