From yahoo sports:
• Evgeni Malkin(notes) of the Pittsburgh Penguins will miss 2-3 weeks with a shoulder injury, according to the team: "It is not the same injury that kept Malkin out of the lineup from the 2006 season and the team is being cautious." Awfully nice of Sidney to blow up offensively last night as Geno leaves for a bit; Pittsburgh's loss is Jordan Staal(notes) fantasy owners' gain. |

Posted - 10/30/2009 : 10:31:04 IMO, it's a little early to link Malkin to guys like Gabby and Semin who miss games seemingly every year. This is Malkin's first realy injury if i recall correctly? He's played 82 games twice and 78 the other year in his short 3 year career. We don't even know how many he'll sit this time as of now?
Mikey, i do agree, guys like Thornton with his track record over the years often feel like a safer bet. However, going into this year, i'd still have taken Malkin over Big Joe. I would however, have taken Joe over Semin or Gabby.....Same goes for next year unless for some reason this shoulder injury becomes something much much larger than what we hear?

Posted - 10/30/2009 : 09:14:30 Thats why i went with players like Thornton, Heatley, Nash, Staal + Getzlaf...yeah they all could get hurt at any given time. but do they? rarely. Guys like Gaborik, Semin, now Malkin you end up playing guessing games with these guys from week to week. I guess i have more confidence in the big Canadians! and how can u not...

Posted - 10/30/2009 : 08:43:28 Yeah, yet another star player out due to injury early in the season. Hurts me bad, I had him in my draft pool (was #1 pick) and in 3 out of the 4 others, although that'll even out since many had him.
In my draft pool, where I am still miraculously leading (because of Kopitar, Marleau and my goalies), I have Kovalchuk, Setoguchi, Franzen and Arnott all on the shelf.
I'm not liking this trend, but what can you do . . . injuries are always part of the luck factor.

AYFKM? That stands for Are You F------ Kidding Me? Do you think some players are robots? Indestructible? Or What? ANY and every player can get hurt?
That'd be like me saying, i'm surprised brentrock is leading his hockey pool. I mean, maybe it's unlikely, but i guess it could happen? |

Posted - 10/30/2009 : 07:13:53 Oops, forgot Kovy. Another 1st rounded KOed.
I think all players should play in those huge inflatable sumo suits. Change the game a little, sure, but SAFETY, people, SAFETY! |

Posted - 10/29/2009 : 12:40:14 Don't forget Kovalchuk, and as a secondary player Lucic. Combine that with the guys who started the season hurt, Hossa, Kessel, Elias and the list of big names on the IR is getting pretty long. |

Posted - 10/29/2009 : 12:27:45 6 player pool:
Stars on my team hurt since day 1: Malkin Savard Gaborik Markov Gagne Booth Souray
