I know that the +/- are calculate like this... when a player is on the ice and his team scores a goal he gets +1 and when the other team scores a goal he gets -1

But does it take in consideration if a player plays during the powerplay or short handed? because if so some players who plays only on the PP would have an advantage over the players who only play SH.

When an even-strength or shorthanded goal is scored, every player on the ice for the team scoring the goal is credited with a plus. Every player on the ice for the team scored against gets a minus.

Learn something new everyday.

Oh... I was unaware of this, thanks for the correction.

Actually, special teams do have an effect on +/- in the case of shorthanded goals. If a player is on the ice for a shorthanded goal for his team, he gets +1. Conversely, if a player is on the ice for a shorthanded goal against, he is charged with -1.

6916, you are right. Special teams have no effect on +/-.

I am pretty sure that special teams goals do not impact plus/minus. I could be wrong.
