Surprised no one has brought this up? What'd you all think of the hit Ohlund laid on his fellow countryman? With the Olympics around the corner, you can be sure Ohlund is sleeping better after hearing Z will only be out for a couple weeks or so? If this were a severe shoulder injury (broken collarbone, dislocation, etc) he would be iffy for the Olympics and that would be a HUGE blow to the Swedish team!

The game is played at a fast pace and it's tough to always know exactly who you're about to hit, but what did you all think of this? What would be the reaction if a guy like Pronger absolutely nailed Jarome Iginla with a 100% clean hockey hit, BUT, knocked him so bad he was forced to miss the Olympics???

If you haven't seen the Ohlund hit, here it is:

There's other longer clips, but i think this one shows it well enough.

I gotta say it was a great hit though, classic Mattias Ohlund for sure, now If only he could get some more points down their...

Perfectly put. The Lightning cut Ohlund's checks not the country of Sweeden.

NHL radio reported that Johan Franzen gave an interview in a sweedish newspaper recently saying how he will definately be at the Olympics. At which point Ken Holland and the Red Wings organization said that if he isn't 100% he won't be near an ice surface in Vancouver.

Players responsibility's are to the team that pays them first and to their country in international play second.

There's a lot of dirty old occ's around thats the problem

If I as an owner seen my player let up on a hit based on nationality I have him benched. Olympic year or not, if a clean play can be made you make it. Letting up on a play when your paid for it, so you can play in a non paying tournament, with said player, would get you riding the pine and reprecussions come contract time in my book.

I coach a bantam AA hockey team ages 13 and 14 in quebec this is the first year the kids play contact, so naturally a lot of the kids are skateing around throwing shoulders and and elbows at everything that moves,, (they have to start letting the kids play contact earlier here) but this this is a hit i have shown the kids this i the definition on how to hit clean but with authority!

I'm not always sure players know who they're up against, it's just Red vs. White and Ohlund reacts naturally to the situation. Clean hit, and Zetterberg will be back no problem.

Good clean hit, classic keep your head up type of deal. I did not think it was too big of deal.
Should not matter who it is when a good clean hit like that is thrown. Quite a blow to the Wings lineup which has been devastated by injuries already.

Ohlund wants to win the CUP so do most of the other players do.
It was a good, clean, hard hit. Zetterberg should have been paying more attention.
