Here's what Team Canada would look like today, (Dec.27) If the team was based solely on points this season by position. Some names might surprise you, others, not so much.

Mike Cammalleri Joe Thornton Martin St.Louis
James Neal Sidney Crosby Corey Perry
Andrew Brunette Brad RIchards Dustin Penner
John Tavares Patrick Marleau Jarome Iginla
Rick Nash

Mike Green Duncan Keith
Dan Boyle Stephane Robidas
Drew Doughty Chris Pronger
Scott Neidermayer

Martin Brodeur
Roberto Luongo
Marc Andre Fleury

(Note: Mike Cammalleri was ranked 16th in points by Canadians, but 1st by left wingers, hence the points by position. Goalies were based on wins and GAA)

Well, I think being a Stastny fan was the only thing that kept me from making another mistake and slotting him as the 13th forward over Nash..

True enough about NHL.com, but, that's what this team is based on and it truly does go to show that teams are built around much more than statistics.

Personally, I hope Doughty makes it.

Yep, the typical NHL.com list by country error. Heatley would be the #1 left winnger, meaning that Tavares would be out. Also, the positions on NHL.com are not always 100% correct. For example, Marleau plays almost exclusively on the right side with Heatley and Thornton, even though he is listed at a centre. So if that's the case, Iginla would be out and Horton would be the next highest scoring centre(don't make the Paul Stastny mistake, he will be on Team USA!!)

However, I am quite happy that the team is not picked off points because as much as some might think otherwise, this group would be borderline at best.

This teams needs the sandpaper of the likes of Getzlaf and Doan/Smyth will bring over the scoring of the likes of Cammalleri and Tavares.

Interestingly enough, the defense is pretty close. I still see Bouwemeester there over Green and perhaps Seabrook over Doughty.

I think you forgot a man by the name Dany Heatley... He was born in Germany so he probably wasn't on your list.
