After having cheered for my team through a team record matching 8 wins in a row, I am asking myself is this team better or worse than the team which Heatley took off from? Is this a contender in the east?

This has been corrected and will update in tonight's stats.

I may have been misunderstood. Even as an Oiler fan, I didn't expect them to make the playoffs this year, but I don't think they should be winless for an entire month, on paper. And the phrase 'on paper' never counts injuries either, which Ottawa, unlike Edmonton, has been able to work through.

In all honesty, on paper Edmonton's not that good either. Anaheim is a team that on paper should be far above their standings. And Philadelphia.

I definitely think the 'team chemistry' thing is going for Ottawa, and Kovalev is proving to not be a total bust. I agree with irvine, Elliott is the lynch-pin. I'm sure Ottawa could use Heatley's 30 goals and 59 points right now too - but not at the expense of him being a cockhead :D

Irvine: obviously they are not as talented without Heatley, that is not up for debate.

It seems that the Senators are a far better team without him. Can you imagine team chemistry and attitude if he had not been traded? Just look at Edmonton, on paper, they should be doing better than they are, but if they had any chemistry and any heart, they would be doing better (at least they wouldn't be last).

As a fellow Senators fan, I certainly hope the success continues.

However, I'm not so sure they are a better team without Heatley. He's just far too talented.

Is this team currently better now, than when Heatley wanted out. I don't believe that either. I just think Elliott is playing at a whole new level.

Irvine/prez.
