Posted - 04/05/2013 : 13:14:52 I was checking out the nhl.com website, and saw the following quote by Jagr, which he made after scoring a goal (the game winning goal) in his first game with the Bruins.
"I knew [the pass] was coming. They always said, 'You've got to drive to the net,' and now I understand why they were saying that, and I never really drive to the net, now I know why. If I knew it when I was 20, I would have 100 more goals by now." Jaromir Jagr
It's possible he was being facetious, but I think he was at least half serious. Far be it for me to criticize a guy who sits in 8th place in career goals (regular season), with 680 goals in 1,381 games, but that's a heckuva quote! :) |

Posted - 04/09/2013 : 20:44:13 I think the crazy part is where Gretzky places. With the sheer number of goals he's scored, one would think he'd be top 5. Just from the math, if nothing else!!! |

You can't be that surprised Statman Of course we would think we'd see Howe and Gretzky on there, being that they are the only two 800+ goal scorers. But that should be the only surprise. All of the guys on this list are 600/700+ goal scorers.
Given that there are probably only 15 to 20 guys in history that have scored over 600 goals you should be able to take a reasonable stab at this. Now I'm not saying that I could have guessed the exact list but I wouldn't think it's the "craziest list" I've ever seen. |

Posted - 04/06/2013 : 07:41:13 Isn't Espo #1 in GWG?
I think Brett Hull was up there too. Not a clue about the rest though. |

Posted - 04/06/2013 : 02:14:53 Geez, this really depends on when they started keeping track of GWG stats, doesnt it...Am I allowed to google that, Alex?
If I had to guess instead of google, I'd say the top five are Gretzky, Jagr, Hull, Messier and Yzerman...probably way off... |

Posted - 04/05/2013 : 14:11:13 Funny stuff indeed!
Did you happen to see the stat where he is 1 GWG behind the leader for NHL Career Game Winning Goals??? Any idea who the leader might be? Anyone? A little trivia this Friday afternoon. Make it more interesting and name the other 4 in the top 5. NO GOOGLING!!! |
