This was on Eklunds blog this morning. He is hardly ever right, but it could be fun to speculate on this one. I think the Flames are the most likely candidate. Could one of Tampa's big three forwards be heading to Calgary? |

You are bang on here. There is no way Vancouver could get Richards without giving up 8 million in salary back to Tampa. I think the NHL is going to move to the NFL style of all transactions coming during the summer and then once the payroll is set, you go with what you have.

Don't foget though, guys...the days of trading a star for a prospect and a couple draft picks are long gone, thanks to Mr. Salary Cap. Just read an article in the Post yesterday that was talking about this: due to just about every team in the league being very very close to the $44-Mil mark, salaries would have to be close as well as talent and "perceived worth".

I wouldn't be surprised to see Brad Richards traded over here to Vancouver for say Brendan Morrison and another forward. We're so lean on defense I don't see any of them going...

The only team that makes sense to me is Edmonton. And even then, not much sense. Edmonton has a plethora of young, fast players, most of whom are reasonably cheap.
Unfortunately, they are underperforming a tad this year, and, based on last season, it wouldn't surprise me if Lowe brewed himself up a blockbuster.
Unlikely, but like you said, it's fun to speculate.

I don't think this is true, Tampa has no reason to make a trade.
Then wouldn't now be the best time to trade one of them? With Ryan Craig and Alexeev performing quite well, I think it would make sense to move one of them. |

The only asset Vancouver has that would be any sort of help to Tampa Bay is Luongo, and well, he simply will not get traded. |

Yah I'm just playing around here too, but St. Louis has a history in Calgary. Could he come back? Who would the Calgary Flames give up though? Wouldn't you think it is more likely vancouver...offensively they need the punch too and they may have more to deal with without selling the farm. Of course I haven't followed the financial side of things lately so I don't know much about that end. |

It would be ridiculous that St. Louis or Lecavalier would be dealt, they've both been red hot lately. Richards is underperforming though....
