I say the Leafs are the dark horse and beat Canucks in finale. |

I think the key here was making it about the Leafs. |

Posted - 03/13/2011 : 19:16:14 I say the Leafs are the "mule" of the playoffs: the bastard son of Brian Burke (the male donkey) and Phil Kessel (the female horse). |

Posted - 03/13/2011 : 18:06:52 If you think that the leafs. Let me clarify, THE LEAFS are going to make the playoffs, somehow get out of the 1st round against Philly, and beat the CANUCKS, My team! [Mod Edit - Even if you used a bunch of symbols it is still negative language and personal attacks]VANCOUVER WILL WIN THE CUP!
Kesler is the TRUE Nucks Captain. |

`1 loss againist Buffalo and they are done.
But that is only looking at Buffalo. What about NYR, CAR, ATL, and the other team people are forgetting about and that is NJ. They are 2 points back of TO with a game in hand.
Even if TO wins both games against Buffalo, they are only gaining on one team. If the other 4 teams also win 2 games at the same time TO wins against Buffalo it just means BUF would drop to a tie with the Leafs, but the Leafs would not gain ground on the others.
As Polish said, it's looking bleak. I am less concerned with the Leafs making the playoffs as I am looking for NJ and ATL to pass the Leafs to knock them below 10th. I have a bet to win here!

Posted - 03/12/2011 : 15:45:53 Yea the Leafs are a donkey maybe in this!!
My darkhorse is Anaheim in the west they could be dangerous if they crack the top 8!!!
In the east it would be Buffalo I see them causing grief as well. Miller is capable of shutting teams down ala Brodeur.

Posted - 03/12/2011 : 14:39:15 The leafs are nowhere near being a "darkhorse."
If anything, they'd be the "gray-undernourished-juvenile horse." It's a longshot for TO to make the playoffs. They are 6pts behind 8th placed NYR as of 1:30et March 12, with one game in hand. But so is Atlanta. Then Carolina is only 2pts behind, with a game in hand.
There are only 14games left for TO. They must win at least 4 more games than NYR, CAR, and ATL to make it into 8. And, NYR, CAR, ATL must not lose those games in OT or SO!
And, once again, you historically need at least 90pts to make the playoffs. The leafs have 68pts. That's 22pts in 14 games. That means the worst they can do is 8-0-6.
The chances are against TO making it into the playoffs. In all honesty, I'd like them to get in, to break their playoff funk, but I think it'll be too little too late.
