It seems that most trophies are about the reputation. Once you've won one you're a perennial favourite. There are others having very strong years but don't have that reputation yet. Two I really like are Phaneuf and Duncan Keith. Both have played excellent hockey this year. Phaneuf has actually turned me into a Flames fan. He and Iginla are just a treat to watch. Phaneuf plays exactly the way a defenceman should in my mind. His offensive flair is great. Seeing him up around the net and doind end to end rushes is a real blast from the past too. I've been watching him pretty closely lately and his his defensive lapses everyone loves to say he has have decreased in number dramatically. He also has that prescence on the ice that great players have. You always know when they are on the ice. They are never invisible. He absolutely deserves Norris consideration this year and I think you 'll see him get quite a few votes. Keith is fantastic in his own end. He has to be. He's 5th in the league in plus/minus and plays on Chicago. That's impressive. To me it's more impressive than Lidstrom who plays on Detroit with some of the best defensive forwards in the league. 4 of the top 5 plus/minus players are on Detroit.
