No offense to any of the habs fans out there, but watching the bruins/habs series and seeing your team get completely out-played, out-muscled, out-skated and out-coached for most of the serious, is there any hope for Montreal to win the cup this year. I don't think so.

I'd like a habs fan to tell me what they think of their team's play this series, almost losing to Boston. I hope the habs come out an play next round, or else they're done for. Boston may not have been able to capatalize on Montreal\s lack of effort, but both the Rangers and Flyers, are just waiting to pounce all over the Habs.

At least another year for number 25, or maybe they can fluke it out.

Ellis or Mason?

montreal doesnt have a hope in hell to make a run at the cup this year, and hopefully for the rest of my lifetime. they are a bunk team, got lucky last year, good thing they had a lot of phantom calls go their way, and this year through the length of the season will prove that montreal is not a superior team in this league at all. they might slide into the last playoff spot or maybe 7th place but they will do no damage in the playoffs.

i'm not this is true because its more of just hear say but according to the mtl gazette price calls huet everyday for advice and just to chat,,, maybe huet could be more helpfull on the bench? where he actually saw the game,,, and lets face it huet played very strong for the caps in the playoffs despite what the numbers show and his numbers down the stretch to make the playoffs are even better then price's (who were amazing) so how could it possibly have not helped our team to have this guy with us now.... its a known fact he was a hit in the locker room and that everyone on the habs loved having him around,,,,, gainey was brilliant in bringing this great team together why throw away a key pieace so late in the season ?????? and now look that key pieace could have been very usefull in both series!

who are you gonna put in net a obviously shaky and not ready halak,, or a completly demoralized price who despite what anyone has to say has only played 3 good games in the playoffs,,, i keep saying it i keep getting called crazy but im going to say it again,,, damn it would be nice to have huet right now instead of a 09 second rounder??? and im not even meaning just for his play ,,, just for price's mental he would be a godsend on the bench,,,,,

The whole reason Price wasn't playing good during the season was because of Huet being there, once he left he gained so much confidence, sure Huet could help him a bit but really its going to be Price who has to look at his game and step up mentally and be the superstar we all know he can be and keep this series rolling.

That being said I believe if we capitalized on 1/4 of our scoring chances we would have won every game, so the 3-1 Philly lead is not nearly on Price compared to a Habs offense who can't finish right now. Say Biron is playing awesome, I wouldn't necessarily say he is playing unbelieveable but rather the Habs are making him look alot better then he is by not screening him and shooting directly at his glove every shot. He is playing good though. I suspect the Habs will win Game 5, if it goes back to Philly god knows.

I'm actually very happy with the predators play. I didn't think they would be able to make the playoffs. and they went to 6 games with detroit, without 5 of their good players from last season and without their former starting goalie. Ellis faced like 45 shots per game and stopped like 42, or 43.

I'll get back on track witht he topic though. I agree with Andyhack. It will really depend on whether montreal can score. Also Kovalev and Price are keys to their succes play well, they win don't show up, the habs are done for.

Ellis or Mason?

Although I disagree with Nash, the question will really depend a lot on whether they continue to struggle scoring, not only on the power play but even strength too - think about the output in Games 2 through 6 in the Boston series (even Game 7 if you think about was not a huge offensive performance given that the final two goals came quite late, when the game was already well past being decided). If they continue to struggle like that, they will really need to rely on their goaltending as the teams to come will have more offensive power than the Bruins (maybe significantly more). My guess is that if there are more Price shutouts it won't just take one outstanding period like against the Bs the other night, but some really incredible 60 minute performances. That could happen once or twice though, as there is no question the guy can play.

But barring the offensive problems of the last series, I think the Habs have a very good chance of at least getting to the final this year. Philly will give them a bit of a battle, and either the Rangers or Pens will be tough too of course, but I see them coming through in five or six games in the Philly series and six or seven in the semis (regardless of opponent).

What do I think will carry them? Basically, speed, talent and a possessed Saku Koivu. And goaltending too of course. Also, they will be better in the rounds to come. There are precedents about Cup winning teams struggling in the first round (the '89 Flames went to Game 7 overtime before beating the Canucks for example). The Bruin series will help them in terms of their mental toughness and work ethic.

So I see them going to the final. From there, who knows. At the very least they can give any of the West teams a real run for their money.

Let me put it to you this way. At 8 to 1 before the last series and 7 to 1 right now, the Habs winning the Cup is not a bad bet (or as this Bruin fan likes to refer to such a bet, "heartbreak insurance").

As Sportsnet said, its like they let Boston win game 5&6 and were toying with them, and showed everyone what they could do in game 7.

did you see the 7th game...I think flyers will cry vs. montreal...

So the Habs played brutal, their worst hockey and still won? Of course they are a threat

Anyone who thought Boston was gonna be a cake walk for the Habs is on drugs! I'm the biggest Habs fan, and the only Habs fan amongst my friends, and yet I was the only one to say that I thought that they were gonna be in tough in that series. But they are an excellently coached team, and when they play their game, they are tough to beat. I think Philly will play them tough in round 2 as well, but at the end of the day, I think that their depth up front and their team defence will take them through. And lets not forget how well Carey Price has played for the majority of the playoffs. Saying that Philly or the Rangers are gonna pounce on them? Are you serious? They weren't the number 1 seed because of luck, they worked hard and I'd say have as good a shot as anyone at this point to win it all...GO HABS GO!!!

They aren't as good as Montreal, I never said they were bad. They just don't have the depth.

Fluke is not even in their vocabulary. I would think a word more along the lines of Choke.
