Hello all,
As the season progresses, the nightly pool calculations take longer and longer. This is due to the growing volume of data throughout the long regular season; at the start of the season the pool calculations takes mere minutes, while at the end of the season it takes several hours. We experienced some growth in the number of users this season and it is making the nightly calculations take even longer, so the stats are finished crunching their numbers around 6am PST right now. Far too late as I'm sure you'll agree.
So with that in mind we are looking at upgrading the servers in the next few weeks (sooner if possible) which will speed things up tremendously. BTW we upgraded the servers only 2 years ago - but we're not complaining, this just means that all you kind folk are telling your friends about our service - so thanks!
Anyway, thanks for the patience as we undertake this effort to improve the service.

The old system finished working at 7am this morning (arrrgh!!!) so we rolled out a new stats calculation engine this morning afterward and it finished in 2/3 of the time when we reset it. So tomorrow's stats should arrive a couple hours earlier. Pool admins please email if you have questions tomorrow.
In addition a new server is on the way within 2 weeks to make the site and the nightly calculations lightning fast!! |
