What has happened to Iginla. The guy is killing me in my hockey pool and it doesn't look like he is going to get better anytime soon. Was last year just a fluke?

Yeah it sure shows too! The flames are doing soo good this year. Unlike them Oilers.Ang Iginla sure is racking up them goals, Good thing he lost all the weight. Hahahahaha. Flames suck!!

...there is no way Iginla has more heart the Smyth.

Whoa, whoa, whoa!

I'll give it to you that ryan smyth has great heart but to say he has MORE heart than Iginla is rediculous. Ryan Smyth in a fight??? Pretty rare. Iginla takes a beating every game just like Smyth. And his talent may not be just natural, who's to say he hasn't worked his ass off to get it! After all, the guy lost 12 pounds just to be a better fit in the league. Iginla's plays in pain too, he has played no less than 70 games/season in his entire career. And in fact has not played less than 75 games/season in the last 8 years. That stat alone is a lot more impressive than Smyth's.

As I said, Ryan Smyth has heart, lots of it, and even though I'm a Flames fan, I am a Ryan Smyth fan too. But Iginla's heart rivals that of Smyth's. The only difference between the two of them is that Iginla has talent.

HA. Ryan Smyth is useless, the only scores he can get is if he is rubbing the goalie. Not saying the flames goals are nice or anything, but that's all ryan smyth does. 150% ha, skate down to the other end of the ice, and sit there, watch watch watch, rub the goalie, score. Lame.
You missed the piont entirley. I agree Smyth gets diryt goals. Most of wich are deflections that come from within 5 feet of the net. Infact I think he has one of the worst shots in the NHL. What I was says was that there is no way Iginla has more heart the Smyth. It's his hear & determination that make him an amzing player. He bleeds Oil. He losses teeth & only misses like 5 min of play. If that's not heart I don't know what is.

In regards to the stats I used: What I meant was that Wshington scored (around) 200 goals, and Ovechkin was their only true scoring weaopn, meaning he accounted for about 25% of the scoring.

Point being: The Flames don't score enough to have one high-scoring player, and are too rounded AND defensive-minded to have a 100 point guy....SO, Iginla is useless in pools where points are the sole category. If +/-, hits, PIM and other stats are used, hell yeah, pick him in the top 3!

I disagree. I think he had one phenomenal season, guaranteeing him the big bucks, and now he doesn't feel the need to prove himself anymore. Also, I an noticing (from the limited Flames coverage) that he no longer shows the aggressiveness or speed he exhibited last year.

No way, he just needs to get going. Also, he has lost weight, and is faster than last season, i got that from watching all the games on the SPACK.

I have two words for that. RYAN SMYTH!

Wow those stats confused me. If by scoring you mean how many goals they factored in on (goals AND assists) then Ovechkin was in on 45% (way more than 25%) of Washington's goals. It also sounds like you're saying that if Iginla scored 50% of Calgary's goals then he'd have a 100-point season at best, which is untrue. Hypothetically if Iginla scored half his team's goals (which logically makes no sense), that he'd have more than 100 goals, let alone points.

Still a tad off subject as you requested but I really don't understand what you're getting at.
Novie Posted - 10/25/2006 : 05:01:30
Can't we get back to the topic at hand...?

If you're relying on Iginla to win you your pool, you've got bigger issues. If I were a GM building a franchise, he'd go in the top 3, but I've drafted pools where Iggy goes 2 or 3 rounds before he even gets a look!

Allow me to repeat: LOWEST SCORING TEAM IN THE NHL...even if he account for 50% of the team scoring (Ovechkin was only at about 25% last year for the Caps), that's still only a 100 point season, at best!

At least we both have one thing in common. We both know the Flames suck!
bablaboushka Posted - 10/24/2006 : 14:49:23
Lol, actually it more of a sarcastic comment taking a shot at Oiler fans who think Smyth is the be all end all of the Oilers franchise. But you're right, Edmonton isn't a one-man team, in fact, they're a no-man team that requires that all of their mediocre players (except Smyth, I actually like him) give 150% every night to see a little success.

I hate the Flames by the way. It's always nice when one of their players is out but I didn't like how unlucky and unfortunate it was. I don't mind seeing injuries that occur from big solid bodychecks or something (like Aaron Downey's injury after being hit by Regehr) but when a player slides into the boards with no way to protect himself like Yelle did, it always sucks. Nontheless, Calgary blows.

Wow, speaking of one-man teams...
. Wait a scond. Are you implying that Edmonton is a one man team?? And are you also implying that above said one man is Ryan Smyth? I'm confused. I aslo thought that everyone said Dwayne Roloson keep them in hockey games & that he was there saving grace. And if Smyth does indeed carry Edmonton, the why can the second line (a line he's not even on) combine for 10 pionts in one night? And How is Petr Sykor (a newbie to the Oil) leading in pionts by 5? Yes, Edmonton is much much a one man team as Buffalo. This about what you're saying man.
Sorry. I know this is a Calgary post. So once again I will laugh that Yelle is out. Calgary sucks. Hahahaha
leigh Posted - 10/23/2006 : 12:20:18
Flames are off to a slow start but that will change. Same thing happend last year. It was tough to lose Yelle's face off skills but some of the young guys will fill in. you gotta have faith.

Wow, speaking of one-man teams...

lyall Posted - 10/20/2006 : 12:59:14
Stephene Yelle is out! Hahahahaha. The Flames are gunna bomb this year. Iginla is all they got this year. He has lots of heart & is as great leader but saying that

Hey this is my 100th post. woohooooo! Go Flames!

blade Posted - 10/13/2006 : 17:52:18
No it is not possible so you must be a Flames fan. It's ok.

pucker Posted - 10/13/2006 : 15:21:50
Agreed. Iginla is a force. Even though his point totals have dropped significantly over the past few season, he fights, hits, scores the big goals, and is a true leader.

I hate the Flames, Love Iginla. Is that possible...

Prevail Posted - 10/12/2006 : 18:55:26
SOLO your are an idiot, if you dont watch much flames games then why you even responding. Iginla has the most heart and drive in the NHL 2day he may not return to very top of league in points but he will always be up there and to say he just got hiz contrant and now hez coasting is retarded, he plays a team system which is D in calgary, cuz hez a team player and does whats best for the team. Geeze

Truly disappointing as the anticipation after last year may have grounded another potential, could have been great, goal scorer.
leigh Posted - 12/06/2002 : 22:54:52
I think he'll start flying now. With the shake up in Calgary this week it should get everyone moving a bit. All he needs is to get a few game point streak going and his confidence will return and he'll take off. GUARANTEED!!!!!
